First cyber crop at ARTastic

Hey, there is a cyber crop going on right now at ARTastic. Go here to join in the challenges.

Today I did Challenge 2, set by Karen. It's really fun.  Here's the criteria you need to meet:

I challenge you to follow a recipe:
Ingredients:
Shapes
Chipboard
Die
Stencil
Method:
Choose one shape and use it as many times as you wish.
Use at least two pieces of Chipboard.
Die cut at least one shape.
Use a stencil.

Here's my layout.

The stencil I used was all diamonds. I used Pebbles Pearlescent chalk and made up a pattern. It just adds a little something extra and directs your eyes to the photos.

Get your layout in the album by 18 April to be eligible for a prize. It would be great if you could get behind this cyber crop.

Music themed scrapbook page for April ARTastic challenge

Hi friends. Happy April Fool's Day!

Here is my layout for April 2022's ARTastic challenge.

These two ladies are my dear friends. The title is best friends forever.

Here is the inspo pic.

ARTastic are using shop windows this year. Cool huh. I used to think for a while that I wanted to be a Visual Display Presenter.  Great creativity involved in that job.  I've picked up the lime green and bright pink wavy pipe patterns as my colour inspiration and background paper choice. Also I like the glam look of the ladies.

Looking forward to seeing what your entry might be. Head over to the facebook page to enter. Random draw creates an equal playing field for the win.

Have a great day.

Flowers for a funeral

This month at ARTastic challenge blog there is a very pretty art inspo and the criteria is to use flowers. I know how many of you love to use flowers so I expect there will be a lot of entries.

Here is what I did.

Those are Prima flowers and leaves in the middle. They do make very nice flowers.

Looking forward to seeing what you do.

Cheers,

Paper folding and lace flower on a layout

 Hello friends,

I've created a layout today featuring my two sons.

I'm entering this one into three challenges.

1. Scrap The Boys  - put a flower on it

2. Stick it down - single page sketch

August Single Page Sketch

3. Mystical scrapbooks - use a handmade textile embellishment

I chose to use the colours in the photos of black, white and red. I have also picked up on the decor at the Restaurant. I have done some punching and made some paper folded napkins out of Japanese paper. Lastly, I have added a hand made lace flower.

Unstampabelles' July challenge - double page spread

Hi.

It's time for my DT take on the newest Unstampabelles' challenge,

#102 JulyCelebrating Relationships - Relationships aren't just about what happens in your love life! Most important relationships do involve feelings but don't involve any romance, for example with family, friends and teachers.

TWIST : work in pairs or have a pair of things somewhere in your work. Has to be about a positive relationship

Background paper is double sided, have used both sides for my double page spread. They are from an old Kaisercraft collection called Lush.
Two photos have two people and both of those photos have been double mounted.
Two flowers on left page, plus two circular embellishments on each page.
Also two grey sticker spots on each page.
Family enjoying a drink at a cafe.

Don't forget - don't use stamps.
Start creating.

Autumn colours on a scrapbook page

Just like that, it is May.

Here is a challenge for you scrapbookers. It is ARTastic's inspo painting and you have to use autumn (fall) colours.

Image may contain: plant, tree, flower, outdoor and nature
Graham Gercken with "Autumn Stroll".

I chose to make this layout due to the colours in my photos.
I've used Kaisercraft Magnolia collection and Simple Life Poppies papers.

An easy challenge this month.  Off you go and craft.

Leaver's Jacket

I'm still working on my 2014 family album.  With all this stay at home and self isolate business due to the corona virus, crafting certainly is attractive.

This layout is for Soul Scrapper's March 2020 Pick 3 challenge.

I've chosen "blue and white", brads and border.

Take care everyone and stay well.

A purple layout. You bet.

I happen to really like the colour purple. I wear it a lot.

I found this purple chair and had to sit in it. Makes me look tiny, don't you think?

Anyway, I don't go anywhere without lipstick. If there is a photo to be had, even if I have no makeup on, I'd rather wear lipstick.

I've made this layout for this month's ARTastic challenge, which is to make a monochromatic layout.  That means use one colour only.

Head over to ARTastic challenges on facebook to upload your layout.

Scrapbook page

My friend Jane Howden is guest designing at Soul Scrappers this month. She wants us to take our inspiration from this painting and use music elements.

Easy. I love this colour palette.  Here is my layout.

Nailed the colours. I have quite a few music elements. We are dancing to music in the top photo, I've added music pp, music chipboard and a strip of paper with music on it along the base.

This page is for my 2014 album which I'm working my way through.

Scrapbooking and Survivor

I've combined 3 things I love in this scrapbook layout.  The TV show Survivor, scrapbooking and the sea.

Soul-scrappers are running a competition based on the fabulous TV show Survivor. I'm a big fan of that show, as his my family.  Survivor Australia All Stars starts next week. Go the Golden God!

Anyway for the February challenge at Soul the theme is water.

I've created this layout of the St Kilda seashore for it.

I've called it By The Shore. I wanted to use 3 different alphas for the title. I've tied in the bubble hearts used for BY with a punched teal strip. We do love the sea.

I've also created my own ocean using 2 different pp's and two different cutters. One was a stencil which I traced on the paper and then hand cut. The other is a Creative Memories wavy 12" cutter.

Add a few photos and a few stickers and we're done.

Look at this beautiful lamp post. So, so pretty.

This is the inspiration picture for the challenge at Archiscraps for February 2020.  But you also have to use the colours in this paint chip swatch. Also add a flourish.

No photo description available.

I chose to make this layout.

The photo is of hubby and I on a bridge in Melbourne looking out over South Bank. I think I've picked up the colours well and I've added a Prima two tone rhinestone flourish.

The background paper is by Webster's Pages, so pretty and detailed I didn't have to add very much.

Thanks for looking.

Travel scrapbook layout

Welcome to 2020. It's the 20's again. Much easier to say than the 10's, which no-one did.

Time for a new challenge. Are you ready?

It's my favourite theme, travel scrapbook pages. Our family loves a trip. We just got back from a family trip to spend Christmas with my sister-in-law's family. Had a splendid time.

Right, on to the challenge. It's for ARTastic. Always inspired by a painting.  This time it is Donald James Waters with "Day Trippers".
I took inspiration from the water theme.

No photo description available.

Image may contain: 6 people, people smiling

This is a photo I purchased from Disneyland from the log ride Splash Mountain. It is an adorable tame ride right up until the end. There is then a scream-worthy drop where you get plenty wet right at the end and that's when they take the photo.  Everyone loved this ride and we went on it a few times.

I've added a lot of inking to represent the water splashes.

You don't have to be so literal as me. I do like to see some inspiration taken from the picture though. Head over to ARTastic to enter.

Glam Girls - A Melbourne Cup Day layout

Who doesn't love a new challenge?

Archiscraps has a great one for you.

SEPTEMBER- use a horse somewhere.
This is Helix park and the kelpies.

Image may contain: one or more people, cloud, sky and outdoor

I love horses. I had a great love affair with them when I was a child.  I took riding lessons from 8 years old and went to 4 different riding schools. We bred and trained race horses. My Dad and my Uncle were hobby trainers.  I spent a lot of my youth at the Races.

The only time I go now is on Melbourne Cup Day.

Here is my layout inspired by horses.

I love the background paper. Glad to be able to finally use it. I was saving it. You know how you do.  hehehe

Stencils and Sprays

CRAFTY CHALLENGE

Time for a new challenge.  Check out Unstampabelles if you like playing with mist sprays and stencils.

Check out what I did.

I love the colour combo of crisp white, purple and green.  I always love to try to pick out colours that I can highlight from my photo.

People have told me that one of their favourite features of mine is my smile so I decided to do a page about it.

The stencil I have used is a mini doily. I've then cut up that doily and made it into a flower.

What will you make?

Layout about a documentary called My Name is Charlie

I've created a layout for Soul Scrappers' challenge GRAB5April.  You have to choose 5 items from your stash and use at least one from each item on your layout.

I chose these 5 items.

Here is the layout I created.

It's a pretty exciting story actually. I have a hidden journalling section under the top photo as there was not enough room on the page.

One of my ancestors is Modesto Varischetti. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modesto_Varischetti)  Made famous by surviving a gold mining accident.  There's a book by Tom Austen called the Entombed Miner that tells the story. I have a signed copy.

There's been a documentary made about the story by the people in the photos of my layout.  They interviewed my Mum and I to be a part of it.

I only just got to watch the film this year as it was released in English.  We shot the footage in 2013.
