Kaisercraft Sketch #4

Kaisercraft have done a card sketch for week 4. Haha, with my new card-making roll I'm on I thought to myself, this is for me. So, I have made 2 cards today.  For this one I have used:

Esther's Guestlist Rachael and Lush PPs, Tea at Elsies Die Cut Elements, Rustic Charm Brads and Lush Buttons, all by Kaisercraft. The rub-on title is by Creative Imaginations.

Thanks for looking.

Day 26

Intrigued? Well, you should be. Go and check out The Scrap Doctor's blog to find out more.

Day 25

Today's letters were:
P - polka dot
Q - quilting
R - red

I punched out some dotty squares of paper and glued them on in a 9x9 square pattern. I've used my red pen to faux stitch on to the blue card base. I've left off a sentiment but may add one later for a specific occasion.

March 123 challenge and Scrapbook Savvy

There is a kit up for grabs in a sponsorship deal between March 123 and Scrapbook Savvy. Here are the details: http://ourbrightstarsandus.typepad.com/123challenge/2011/03/new-store-sponsorship-awesome-prize-up-for-grabs.html
Basically completed the March 123 challenge and one of the challenges from Scrapbook Savvy. I've fulfilled this requirement.

Here is the layout I did for March 123 which required you to use:

Colour: Light/Medium Blue
Word: To/Too/Two (you choose which one)
Technique/Product/Theme Idea: Doilies

I chose to use a favourite photo of my son Damon when he was 5 1/2 months old. He's nearly 14 so this is going back a ways. He's sitting in my rocking chair and he liked to be pushed back and forth gently in it. I love the softness of this layout and have added tiny baby stickers. If you look closely you'll see them. I've also added a Mrs Grossman's rocking chair and ottoman laser stickers at bottom left but they get a bit lost in the online photograph.

For Scrapbook Savvy I've used Anthea's sketch challenge.

I've made a layout using some photos from our US trip. This is entitled The Oval Office.

Day 24 - 365 Cards

Not a very inspiring card today but it meets all the criteria of:

M - Marker
N - Number
O - Orange

I asked my 11yo son if he would give it to one of his friends for their birthday and he said yes so that's good enough for me. Boys like to keep it simple.

New Sketch challenge site

Once Upon a Sketch is a new challenge site starting up. In conjunction with Scrapbook Nook they are giving away the above gorgeous looking kit. We have until 30 March to get in on this giveaway. Go!

Day 23 - 365 Cards

Some of my closest friends had a baby boy recently. I gave them this card that I made. It has their son's name on a tiny card inside the envelope on the front.

G is for Grosgrain (on the envelope)

H is for Heart (obvious)

and

I is for Ink (inked around the outside of the heart shape)

5 Kilos

Here we are at weight loss Wednesday again. I did not meet my goal of .8 but did meet the .5 goal I usually have. This is OK by me. I ate some apple crumble for dessert on Saturday night with a bit of icecream. A special treat as my dairy allergic son was having a sleepover so we all had a special indulgent dessert that he can't eat.
I am starting to see a difference in my body. A friend commented that she thought I had lost weight this morning and that pleased me. 6 weeks to lose 3.1 kgs is pretty slow but at least it is consistent. So by that standard in another month I will have lost the 5 kgs.
I have switched everybody to wholemeal bread. My hubby still bought white on the weekend but no-one has commented on the wholemeal so I'm just going to keep it up. I wish I could wean them on to multi-grain.

Cardabilities

At Chat With Charm I found a card site called Cardabilities. I loved the sketch they had up so here's my entry for it. Put a few more squares than the sketch. I noticed others had varied it a bit too. Pink and green is a great colour combo.

Day 22

D - Distressed (see blue hand made paper at bottom of card
E - Envelope (Sweet little envelope enclosing a little card which says Pride & Joy
F - Fringing (dark blue cardstock along bottom)

Day 21

Criteria for Day 21 of 365 Cards is:

A as in Alphabet Stickers/Stamps

B as in the color Blue

and

C as in Circle

I had to include at least something of each. Here is what I did.

Day 20 - Wish You Were Here

Hey, Day 20 over at 365 cards was a sketch. The DT's had used a digi image. I decided to use a stamped image. It's pretty cute too. I got it in a recent swap at Amanda's monthly swaps.
Here is the sketch.

Here is my card.

All About U

I made this sweet card for Scrapbookit's March/April card sketch challenge and 365 Cards Day 19 challenge which is all about a crush. I've chosen to use beige and soft pink tones.

Day 18 - Disaster struck

Today's challenge was thrown down, felt like. Make 3 cards, all similar. No time for that today as very busy but gave it a go. Then, when I went to photograph them outside where the light is better, a gust of wind blew up and one flew into the pool. Darn it. I've no time to make another so have included it anyway. Such is life.

This was for Day 365 cards.

Aussie Scrap Source

You may or may not already be familiar with Aussie Scrap Source. They feature some really inspirational stuff. The pictures are big and clear and I recommend it. Take a look at the link before. You might see something familiar.

Fern card - Day 17

At 365 Cards today you had to use the above ad image to inspire you. I see plant fronds and some flowers in the vase.

The card is green, has a green ribbon and uses Creative Memories laser cut stickers.

Day 16 - Abstract Art

Today's challenge at 365 Cards was to use an abstract art painting as your inspiration. I chose White Heat (shown above) as mine. I've had this groovy postcard for some time and I simply mounted in on purple carstock and added black lace. Easy peasy. You can see the correlation I think.

5 Kilos

I've met my goal this week of a .5 loss. This is fairly good actually because Saturday night was our 16 year wedding anniversary and we went for a degustation meal at Harvest Restaurant. It was 6 courses with 5 wines to match. Also it is the time of the month to each chocolate so ... happy enough.

Next week my mini goal is to reach 66.5 so I will have to work harder and lose .8.

Thanks for the tip Nerrida. I bought wholemeal bread yesterday. The other 3 households members adore white bread. I prefer multi-grain but they won't eat it. They probably won't eat the wholemeal either and will most likely complain once they realise.

SUYS - #1

The second challenge is up at Show Us Your Stuff. I created this layout for it last night.
I've used WRMK's Geo-hectic background paper. I have a lot of this range so you will see some more of it in the future layouts I create. I've also used royal blue, gold and red cardstocks with inked edges. These are the team colours that the boys are wearing in their jerseys. The home made item is the felt star with button. You also had to include a number in the title.

Thanks for looking.  xx

Day 15 - 365 Cards

Green, black and french vanilla are the colours to use for today's card. The Key To My Heart is what I call this card. Here you can see the front and then the inside is a little special too.

I made a big effort last week and did all the cards for the week at 365 Cards. I was also awarded a Spotlight Designer award for Day 7 for my fierce card.

Scrap Tiffany - Beauty

The challenge for us Designers at Scrap Tiffany this week was to represent beauty in a card or layout. I made a very sparkly card. Here it is for your viewing pleasure.

Here's the link to see what all the other Designers did:

1 card - 2 challenges

Happiness is Homemade

1.   Day 14 at 365 Cards is Fresh Baked Goodness and what it means to you. I love baking and I cook most everything from scratch. I do love to make cakes and baking in the oven is a marvellous way to prepare food for my family.

2.  The 2nd challenge I'm entering this card in is for Scrapbookaholic By Abby Challenge #1. I had to choose a holiday in March and make a project about it. I chose March 3rd which is I Want You to be Happy Day.

Day 13 - sketchy Sunday

Here's today's sketch at 365 cards.
Here is the card I made with this as inspiration.

Day 12 - 365 cards

It's a Keep it Simple challenge and here are the specifics:

Cover the front of the card with patterned paper, add a sentiment and one embellishment and that's it.

I used my daisy fan punch on lots of different patterned papers. I love that punch so much. Then I just added the sweet word sticker and the flower sticker. Easy.

Cool card

Day 11 - 365. Hey, I'm getting into this. Challenge today was titled "Repurposed" because even though a patterned paper was designed for a specific holiday or season, that doesn't mean it isn't suitable for another purpose. So the specific challenge is to do just that -- find some paper in your stash that was intended for one holiday/season and give it a new life.

I've chosen some snowflake paper that I've had for many years. Because when in sunny, never ever snows Perth and I gonna get to use it, right? I folded it up and made little fans because we've been having a heat wave and I've been using a lovely little blue and white fan to keep cool. So there is even a personal side to this one.

Again, excuse the photography. Top one taken indoors, bottom one outdoors. Wrong time of day for photos. Hopefully you can see the dimension.

Day 10 - On Trend

Today's challenge, make a card with a current trend. I was going to do twine but  I saw that a few others had done that so I changed my mind. I've done black and white with a splash of bright colour. It's simple and elegant.

Hard Rock

I've found a new shop/challenge sit called Scrapbookit. Actually, I've applied for their DT too so fingers crossed. They have a sketch up which has to be completed by 15 March. I believe I may just be first to put up a layout. Yay. Here is the sketch. Pretty, yes?

February Sketch Challenge

Here is what I created.

My colour scheme is red, yellow and blue and I've used papers, stickers and a little chippy guitar to tie it all in. This was an amazing Hotel we stayed in. That guitar out the front played music and the strings actually moved in time to the music. The elevator music was rock and there was memorabilia everywhere. I loved it.

Day 9 - 1990s

Day 9's card at 365 Cards had to be inspired by the 1990s. This had me stumped for a bit but then I remembered Girl Power. Of course, the Spice Girls. So I've done a lovely simple white and pink card. I cut 3 squares out of a piece of pink power and decorated it with my pink pen. Then i just added some stickers and pearls. Sometimes simple things work best.

5 Kilos

It's been one month since I began my weight loss journey. I'm pleased that I did, so I have to say thanks to Nerrida and Karen for giving me some motivation. I do respond well to having that big sister(s) watching over me.

This week I lost .2. Not the .5 I was looking for but still a loss. Last week I had real trouble sleeping due to the heat and Saturday night did not sleep at all so Sunday I was knackered. I still did my walks but a lot of the rest of the time I was too fatigued to be very active as I usually am. I figure that's the main reason for the smaller weight loss. Also we had take away on Friday night, unavoidable I'm afraid. Not my choice.

The girls want to know why I've gained weight. I think perhaps my metabolism has slowed now that I'm older. Also, I just was not doing enough exercise. Plus, even though I don't eat a great deal I often would snack after dinner and not deny myself things like Coke or cake. I think the time has past where I can still have those things and it not affect my weight.

I have upped my walks from 3-4 a week to 5. I find that my legs are more toned. Saturday morning at 5:30 am I was woken up by severe cramp in my right foot. I will have to make sure that I do some stretching upon my return from my walks as I don't want that happening again. It was painful.

So, for the month, I have lost 2.1kgs of the 5kgs I wish to lose. Here's my scales picture.

Day 8 - 365 Cards

Today's challenge was to make an arch card. Never done one of those before. I took my inspiration from a leadlight church window. I love these and can gaze at them for ages. Seen some really beautiful ones around the World too.

Please excuse my photography. It's really windy at the moment outside and I was lucky to get a shot and the ones inside just didn't turn out.

Day 7 - 365 cards

I'm pretty sure that I never would have thought to make a card like this if not for this challenge. Day 7's challenge is a word - "fierce". Now, I didn't have a clue what to do for this one. Browsing through my stash I saw these skeleton stickers sheets. You piece together the skeleton pirate with whatever weapons, treasure, etc you wish. I actually quite like the end result. Having boys myself I'm sure they can use it as a birthday card for a friend.

Day 6 - Super Sketchy Sunday

Day 365 Cards has a super sketchy Sunday. Here's the sketch.

Here's my sub for it.

I've flipped the sketch on its side and it has a little peek-a-boo message on the front.

Thanks for looking.
