October Archi-scraps scrapbook challenge - a sketch

 This month's challenge at Archi-scraps is a sketch.

The sketch is from "Stick it down." 2014 

I regularly participate in their card challenge. I even won it once and got to be a Guest Designer.

Here is my layout.

My cat was having marvellous fun playing with the banner from my husband's birthday party that we had left in the lobby the night before. 

I used a white background so that all the colour would be focused around the photo and I've used a few of the colours from the banner and added a banner too.  Pretty pleased with the end result.

Join us. Sketches are easy and this one is a bit different.

Today's birthday card used 4 basic colours. I wanted to keep it simple.

Three card set

I went looking for a new card challenge to join yesterday. Found an oldy but a goody with a nice sketch.

It is the Feeling Sketchy October challenge.

I remembered some Cherry Arte black rub-ons I have that I thought would suit. Talk about stash busting! They are quite old. Rub ons often deteriorate over time but these have been reliable.

I decided to make a 3 card set.

I used the light blue paper from this paper pack.

Dream Big

A travel layout

I created this layout titled "Siloso Beach" today. On Sentosa Island, at Siloso Beach, they have these giant letters which just beg for photos. My sons and I climbed on top of them and Paul took some snapshots.

Also, it is entered into Soul Scrappers ISDTRV competition. Paula's challenge is to create a travel layout. Happy International Scrapbookers Day by the way.

Here is the sketch. I flipped my layout because of the photos. I wanted the people looking into the page, not off the edge of it.

I've used mostly Basic Grey's Capture collection.

Masculine birthday card

BIRTHDAY CARD

I quite enjoy making masculine birthday cards.  This one is for my hubby who turns 51 on Thursday. I used the sketch from Feeling Sketchy and the colour scheme with lines from Papercrafter's Corner. The colours are awesome for a guy and the white adds a brightness that is needed. Layering is always good.

I've gone with the colours of red, grey, blue and white and added lines.

A Joy(full) Spirit - card for Feeling Sketchy

Here is a card I made yesterday. It's for an international singing coach that is coming over this weekend from the US to help our Chorus.

I've used the following sketch for the design. I gave my card a nice, soft feel by using pastel pink, soft green and kraft. Had to add a bit of bling of course. Choruses are renowned for their use of bling.

I've been on a bit of a baking kick this year since getting a new KitchenAid mixer. I've also been watching shows like The Great British Bake Off and Britain's Best Bakery and can't help making something myself. In the picture are a chocolate orange cake, lemon cupcakes and chocolate whoopie pies.

Two special birthday cards

Today I have created two special birthday cards for special people. They haven't got them yet of course so I won't say who they are for.

1ST CARD
The first one is a masculine card for a 50th birthday. I chose bold colours, red, white and black for him.

I'm entering this card in two competitions.

This one is for week 1 of Kaisercraft's August challenge. This has changed from a sketch challenge. This month you had to make a birthday card.

Reach the Stars card

I'm playing along with Sketch #94 at Feeling Sketchy blog today. I've used a bit of Prima packing with some added washi tape, along with a Prima chipboard piece that reads "You will reach the stars you just have to take the first step."  I thought that was a nice sentiment.

 KAISERCRAFT - SKETCH #3 - JUNE 2014

Welcome to today's blog post. If you're visiting me for the first time, welcome. If you like what you see, please become a follower. I'd love to have you visit again. I hope I can inspire you or brighten your day.

Today's post is for one of my favourite sketch challenges. Kaisercraft's week 3 sketch for June is a beauty (I have attached it below).

Take a look at the brick wall in my photo. What a perfect match it is for my favourite KC collection, Base Coat. In this case, the Bricks paper. Woohoo. Great start. I cut it down slightly, inked it in black and mounted it on KC khaki weave cardstock. I have done the same with all the patterned papers. I have also used a lot of my second favourite KC collection, Kaleidoscope. So perfect for my page theme.

WA Fun Day - A girly layout for Mad About Scrappin

I bought a whole bunch of lovely flowers from Mad About Scrappin. They arrived in a box this week. Lots of them were handmade too. I've used 5 of these on the sketch challenge of theirs this month. I also had a win at Soul Scrappin' and received some flowers from Karen in the mail this week. I've added 5 of these on my layout as well.
I flipped the sketch on it's side to suit the landscape orientation of my photos. This layout is about me singing last long weekend Monday holiday with the chorus I'm in, A Cappella West. We did a charity gig located at the Scout Hall grounds where my boys used to go to Cubs. I had a chat to the Scout leaders and felt quite nostalgic.
It was a lovely fine day and we had a good time singing. One of our members had her little baby boy along and he behaved very well.

Kaisercraft sketch # May 2014 - Our Hotel

This is the 3rd sketch challenge I've managed to complete for Kaisercraft's weekly sketches this May. There were 5 this month as it is a long month.

Mark and I went to a family friendly seafood restaurant. We both had the fresh fish, mine grilled and Mark's was battered. Huge meals with chips and salad as well. Couldn't finish it all but it was delicious.

I went with a cream and pink colour scheme. I used my CM CCS circles. I've used one piece of paper. The piece I have journalled on is the piece I've cut from the inside of the circle framing the photo. Happily it had lines and I wanted to do a lot of storytelling.
