Double scrapbook page layout

This picture is your inspiration for April 2024's Archiscraps' challenge. Isn't it grand?

You must use brick texture on your layout.

I have a small Prima brick wall stamp. I've used two ink colours on it and stamped it in four places on my double page layout.

Pop over to the blog to see the inspiration from the other Design Team members. Make up your own layout and enter it on the facebook community page. Easy.

Music themed scrapbook page for April ARTastic challenge

Hi friends. Happy April Fool's Day!

Here is my layout for April 2022's ARTastic challenge.

These two ladies are my dear friends. The title is best friends forever.

Here is the inspo pic.

ARTastic are using shop windows this year. Cool huh. I used to think for a while that I wanted to be a Visual Display Presenter.  Great creativity involved in that job.  I've picked up the lime green and bright pink wavy pipe patterns as my colour inspiration and background paper choice. Also I like the glam look of the ladies.

Looking forward to seeing what your entry might be. Head over to the facebook page to enter. Random draw creates an equal playing field for the win.

Have a great day.

Sakura Sakura

Hello people,

I hope you are all happy and safe.

I've solved the CSI file #317 today.

No photo description available.

This is what I used from the case file.

The scene: Black and candy pink in the middle surrounded by clusters of flowers. Product cles: Older papers that match the colours, older floral papers, metal elements (brads). Design clues: Add flowers and I created two fans by folding Japanese paper (movement).

Here is my layout.

Thanks for looking.

Girls only

I love doing music layouts.  This is a photo I snapped of myself (and many others) on the risers on rehearsal night at my Chorus.  I love being part of a group of women creating something special together.

This month's challenge at ARTastic is a girls only one.  My Chorus is made up of only women. I like having that outlet as my family is dominated by boys.

The inspiration picture is:

No photo description available.
John Maitland with "Down to the Ocean".

Quite gorgeous I'm sure you will agree.

I wonder what you can create with this theme. I can't wait to see.

Subset at Subi.

Today I have created a layout for the Scrap the Girls March 2020 challenge.

I've used the colours of dark red, green and cream.  I have some writing on my background paper, large flowers with greenery and some flourishes.

This is my Chorus (some of us) singing at an outdoor Christmas concert.

Fire challenge

Soul-scrappers are doing a Survivor based challenge. I love that TV show so much.

March is a fire challenge.

Here is my interpretation.

Don't we look hot?
I think so.
Looking good and feeling fine.

I hand drew and coloured some flames to bookend my photo.

Thanks for looking.

Tropical scrapbook layout

Hi there.
Isn't the year just flying by?

Here is the latest challenge at Unstampabelles.

#95: November - Paradise Pretties and Tropical Delights  TWIST  Into the Wild

Here is a scrapbook page I made to suit.

Isn't it fun and full of colour?  Let's see what you do and how you interpret the challenge. It can be any kind of project, just remember not to use stamps.

A tragedy and a sympathy card

Yesterday a terrific teacher and mentor of mine passed away from breast cancer.

Her name was Lindsey Dyer and she was the co-Director of the Chorus I sing in, A Cappella West.

She was full of life, joyful and enthusiasm, especially for the craft of barbershop and educating others in it.

I took this sneaky shot of Lindsey with the gold cup before the 2018 competition. We went on to win that cup, in large part because of her.

This is a photo of me with Lindsey and Gail. Lindsey also knew how to have a lot of fun.

We are all very sad she has gone. She will leave a big hole where she once was.

I've made a card for our Chorus to all sign. There are 95 of us so it had to be a big card.  It's 4 pages altogether.

Our current Chorus costume was orange and purple, some of Lindsey's favourite colours as it happens, so it was a no brainer what colours I would use. I also added green and white as accents.  This card took me 4 hours to make, longer than any other card I've ever made, but this one was very special.

I hope you like it. Here are some pics.

 This is the front.

I added 6 different types of beads as a feature.

Use flowers on your scrapbook page

I've created another music based page. Surprise! hahaha

Image may contain: 2 people, including Dale Tiernan, people smiling, flower

May's inspiration over at ARTastic challenge blog is:

Reginald Earle Campbell - "Still life with daffodils"

Image may contain: flower and plant

The extra criteria is use flowers.

I thought it was quite a happy painting. Also, there is one single lady figure in it.
I had this photo of me at Chorus. Every week we celebrate whichever member's birthdays it is. This week it was just me so I had the whole Chorus sing to me in 4 part harmony. I loved it and it was very special. It made me very happy.

I tend not to use a lot of flowers on my layouts. When I do, I like little clusters.

I had just sorted a lot of my flower collection out. I put some into one of those plastic boxes that has lots of little sections. I colour coded them for ease. Made selecting them easier.

Have a go. I know a lot of you out there love using flowers on your projects.

Party page

Look at me with my arm up in the air like I just don't care. hahaha

I made this page for a cyber crop Mystical Scrapbooks had last weekend.  It was a tic tac toe and I chose mist, large photo and use the word celebrate.

I love this photo. It epitomises me at a party.  I was so happy because my Chorus had achieved 2nd place that day at the national Convention in Perth in 2017.  It was a lot of fun.

We Won in Hobart!

Great news readers.

When my Chorus, A Cappella West, went and competed in Hobart last month we took away the #1 position.

There were 23 Choruses competing this year. We were the largest.  We had 82 on stage. Below is our posed picture which was taken after we had sung our two competition songs. I am on the second to back row, roughly middle left.

This year is the first year that a cup was awarded. Our Chorus' name will be the first one on it. It is quite gorgeous.

Here I am (on the right) holding it with my roommate and friend Andrea. We are dressed in our silver and black outfits that we wore in the parade of Champions.  It was nice to have a costume change.

I also wore the outfit to our after party, which we call the Afterglow.  The theme was royal wedding as it was the same day as Harry and Meghan's wedding (I watched it whilst getting ready). I just added some more bling to my outfit and some gloves and I was ready to party.

We are all excited now as we have qualified to compete at International again next year. It will be held in September in New Orleans.  We can't wait.

Cover page scrapbook layout

I've always thought that cover pages need not have a photo on them. Having said that, I would have liked one of me on this, I just didn't have one.

What do you think? Did it need a photo? I don't think so. It has all the info you need, plus the big black tiara says a lot.

This layout is for the first Unstampabelles challenge of 2018. You'll be thrilled to know that "Anything Goes" for this one.  Also, you should use something new in your stash.  Both the tiara and the 2015 card are new. Also the pink stars as a matter of fact. They were the last item I added.

In case you are a new visitor, I sing in a female barbershop Chorus called A Cappella West. At my very first Convention we won the competition.

Silver Medallists

It is possible that one or two of my readers may be wondering where my Chorus, A Cappella West, came in last Saturday's competition.  I can't believe a week has passed since we crossed the stage.

We placed second with a score of 614 and received a silver medal on a red ribbon. We are all very pleased and we scored consistently well across the four categories of sound, showmanship, expression and music.

Here are a few picks of the competition.

Our two Master Directors also won gold in the quartet competition for the 6th time in a row with their Quartet Hi-Jinx.

Convention time

Hi all,

This week finds me at the Sweet Adelines Australia Convention in Perth, Western Australia.

That's me in the middle at the front.  We were about to go and sing on the stage to test the mics for the upcoming contests.  Tomorrow is Quartet day and Saturday is Chorus competition day.  My Chorus, A Cappella West is performing. We go on at #3 at 11:57pm. Really excited. Can't wait.

Feel free to wish me luck!

A fabulous card that has room for many to sign

So, I am a member of a 100 group female barbershop chorus called A Cappella West.

We also have in our midst the Australian champion quartet Hi Jinx.

We are competing in the Australian competition from 18 to 20 May.  I have created a card for the whole Chorus to sign and present to the Quartet members. I made it a 6"x 6" card with several inserts so all the members have room to leave their good wishes.

The Chorus colours are pink and black and these ladies are stars, hence the choice of paper.

I'm entering this is the Scrapping 4 fun challenge - anything goes.

Dream Big

What do you think of this layout? It's very pink! I like how it turned out.

I've used the sketch from the 15 April Stuck Sketches challenge.  Here is the sketch.

Double page layout - pink

Scrapbookit's April 2017 challenge was a double page sketch (see the image below). You had to use flowers, texture and stamping.

For my texture I cut some circles from floral patterned paper, spread mod podge all over it, layered clear sequins all over each one and then sprayed them with gold glitter paint.

Here is my finished product.

Here is a close up.

ACW - Australia Day, a layout for CSI #176

How fabulous is this week's CSI case file? I could have gone so many ways with this one. I almost feel like I should do more than one entry.

Anyway, I looked at the colours and knew just the photo to use. I already had it printed and sitting on my craft desk.

Here is my layout.

I have all the colours in the scheme, plus a hint of green. Hope that's allowed. It was on the background paper and I've covered it up as much as possible.

Evidence : music elements, stitching (faux), I have a large white oval underneath the doily, there's a flourish and some red enamel dots.

Testimony : Document something you do for entertainment. Well, I sing in a Chorus called A Cappella West and we entertain others although it is also very pleasurable for me as well. I've used the inspiration words song and music. I've added a list of our set list that we sang.

Thanks for looking. Thank you so much to those that make a comment. I do read them and enjoy them. Makes my day.

We won gold!

Well, I can hardly believe it. My Chorus, A Cappella West, won the regional Convention. We are gold medal winning champion singers. We now have the chance to compete at International level next October in Las Vegas.  How exciting is that? We will have to work hard and fund raise like mad.

It was my first Convention. I've been a member of A Cappella West for 2 years in 3 weeks' time. It's such a great achievement for all involved. Our 2 Directors achieved Master Director status. It's so fantastic for them and for each of us, but especially for the 15 out of 80 that competed for the first time. We were all extra ecstatic.

We got the chance to perform on stage 3 times. The first time was to do our two contest songs, Somewhere Over The Rainbow and Jazz Me Blues.

The second time was when we went on stage and accepted our medals, then we sang Gospel Medley and How We Sang.

Lastly, as winners we performed in a Showcase, where we sang Gospel Medley and Holding Out for a Hero.

Here are a few pictures for you to see.

This is us on stage. This is a photo of our last big moment on stage during the Showcase. We had just completed singing Hero.  We usually all wear pink and black. We have 5 quartets that competed and that's why some of the ladies are in other costumes, they're wearing their quartet costumes that they had performed in during the Showcase.

This is my friend and roomie Andrea and I in front of our room. I had put a scrapbook patterned paper on our door for people to writes messages on. It will be going in the scrapbook I will make of our trip. We are showing our gold medals.
