Last challenge for the year at Archi-scraps

It's December. Happy festive season to you all.

I have my Design Team example for you all to feast your eyes on today.

The criteria is : Use frilly edged on your paper or cardboard

Also, be inspired by this image.

I thought I'd create a page about a dining experience.  I've used some colourful background paper to pick up the colours on my plates of food. Also there are green placements on the table and I wanted to add a patterned paper to pick that up.

My frilly edge is the intricate lace I have used. It is brown and cream, the colours of the photo.

What inspires you about the pic?

Perhaps you have some spare time to scrap this month. Join in. Add your page to the facebook page album.

Layered card

I always enjoy doing the Stick It Down card sketch.

Here's what I had to work with.

Here is what I created.

Lots of ink and layering here in complementary colours. I quite like that the sentiment is a bit open to interpretation. Could come in handy.

Thanks for looking.

November 2022 Archi-scraps DT post - Steampunk

Check out this funky vehicle. Wacky huh?  This month's inspiration for Archi-scraps is this image and make it STEAMPUNK.

Here's a link if you're unsure what it is.

I've always admired the layouts, tags and cards that people make using this genre.  I don't have a lot of it in my stash. Not at all. I made do that (and have since bought a little paper pad of it).

Here is what I came up with.

The pics are of my Grandpop and the colours of the photos leant themselves to the sepia tones of steampunk and the inspo image. I started with cream background paper and added some brick stamping.  Kaisercraft always have great men's type ranges. That's the clock/cog paper. Then I scrounged around for anything else that would fit the theme.

Let's see what you can do. We would love to see your entry. There is a prize on offer for the winner.

November 2022 ARTastic double page DT layout

Check out this jungle themed display window for our ARTastic challenge inspiration this month.

I instantly saw a double page spread, so that's what I created. Mostly green, with some brown and jungle themed. I used paint, nuvo drops, kinda glitz, die-cuts and stickers. Plus one flair.

Here's my page.

I started with some green cardstock as my background. I chose a couple of different coloured green paints and some white and randomly drew my brush through the colours and then created some curved lines across each of my pages.  I added some nuvo drops and kindy glitz for added shine and interest.

I've matted each of the photos with brown so as to add that colour from the inspiration pic.

The twine is for the vines that monkeys swing through and if you look at the inspo pic you can see some of the "vines" do go across.

There is one pop of orange so I picked that colour up for my title. Appropriate given the photo subject, yes?

Then I've just added some die cut and sticker leaves, along with a little journalling.

Get your entry in.

Soft tonal coloured birthday card

I usually manage to do the Stick It Down card challenge at the start of each month. This month I've been too busy, but I've squeezed it in.

Here is the sketch to work with:

Here is my design:

You can see part of my lobby is decorated, ready for Halloween, in the background. The colour orange may have influenced me. haha

Happy Halloween for Monday.

ARTastic October scrapbook layout

Hello.

I've got my Design Team layout for you to look at today.

The display window to take inspo from is below.

My inspiration included a busy navy and white background. I immediately thought of Basic Grey and Graphic 45. I used a G45 paper called Anchors Aweigh from the Catch of the Day collection. Then I added orange papers and made a feature with squares.

I couldn't use foxes but there are a few birds so I thought I'd add a winged animal and I popped this big butterfly die-cut with foam squares.

Thanks for looking. Head to ARTastic's fb page to enter.

Archi-scraps DT scrapbook example page for October 2022

I love October. It's my birthday month!

Check out this great challenge from Archi-scraps.

Use this photo and add string/twine.

The building in my pic reminds me of the guitar building, with the lines and the blue. They are actually wonderful greenhouses.

I've got the garden/palm tree and colours as well.

I've added green twine through my chipboard button.

Here's my layout.

Card featuring hand made purple flower

Here is the image for this month's card challenge at Stick It Down.

I created this card for it.

I created a fabric flower for it. I used a top that fell apart in the wash. It was actually brand new so I didn't want to waste it. Poor quality sewing. I also cut some lace from an offcut.

Thanks for looking.

September ARTastic challenge. Bright.

Wow, look out. This month's window display is a bright one. Who loves to work with bright colours? I think some art journal pages would look good using this month's inspo.

This is the pic to work from:

Pretty fun huh? I thought so.

Here is what I did.

I've gone for colourful. I've picked up the colours from the booth frames, aqua, bright pink and yellow. I've made a rectangular shape like the booth and zentangled with coloured pens. That was fun to do.

The ladies are wearing bright coloured outfits. I got a vintage vibe from the window pic.

Hope you can join us at ARTastic. Go for it.

September Archi-scraps challenge - rolled paper

Hi there.

It's time to have a bit of fun with paper. Archi-scraps challenge is to used rolled paper on your paper project. Below is the inspiration pic.

I decided to make a card. I came up with the idea of creating a fan.

I got a book out from the library and it had a pattern in it for rolled paper tubes, but I downscaled the size to suit my project.

I chose some pretty paper from a Daphne's Diary magazine.  I didn't want it to be thick as cardstock so that it was easier to roll.

I chose some patterned paper for the base of the fan that matched the rolled paper tubes and added a strip of reddish pink for the bottom. I bought some twine from Kmart, their Anko brand to finish off.

I used pink cardstock for the background to make the blue of the fan pop.

The sentiment reads Have a FANtastic birthday. A cute pun I think.

Sometimes I quite like to decorate the inside. It's a nice surprise, plus the card is quite big so that would be a lot of room to write otherwise.

2xcards for Stick It Down

I like to join in with the card sketch each month.

I had a new product that I wanted to try. Liquid pearls in the colour merlot. It has a metallic lustre and it's just beautiful. I applied it to my chipboard sentiment. Really loved how it came out.

Here are my two cards.  Two are always better than one, right?

Thanks for looking.

August ARTastic design project - scrapbook layout

I hope all is well with you.

I love a nice cup of chai latte. It warms you up in winter and it tastes yummy. Lately I've been having it with almond milk. Very tasty. Adds a nice nutty flavour.

This month's window challenge for ARTastic is a really interesting one. I'm keen to see the interpretations in the entries. I'll show you the inspo pic and then post my layout, then give you my interp.

I felt like there were many choices here.

I've picked up the kraft coloured background, the red from the dress and the wheat. The cinnamon in my tea looked a bit like wheat I thought. Plus, there's bound to be tea in that picnic basket, right? I made a little teacup with some charcoal coloured paper (from the saucer colour in my photo) and I had a chipboard spoon which I coloured with a copic marker. I've also added a banner (inspo came from the spotlights hanging off the sides).

Have a go. Head to facebook to enter here.

August Archi-scraps Design Team layout

Check out my colourful page! A feast for the eyes.

It is my Design Team example page for August's Archi-scraps challenge.

This is the inspo pic. Lots of swirls of colour, I mainly pick out blues and reds and some yellow. The added criteria is to use the colours.

There are also lots of lines so I've incorporated those into my layout as well.

It reminded me of Freemont St in old Vegas where they put the light show on at night so I've made my page about the lights and glitz of Las Vegas.

July ARTastic challenge

Here is my page for this month's ARTastic scrapbook challenge.

It depicts my son's first driving lesson.

The inspo window is:

I've used the colours, especially light blue background. I have squares, like the domino shape. Also included luck.

I could see the window translating to a really great double page layout, I hope someone goes in that direction.

Head over to fb to add your entry. Winners are chosen at random so anyone can win.

Use weaving on a scrapbook page

Hello,

It's winter here in Perth. A good time to do indoor activities like scrapbooking.

The challenge at Archiscraps this month is to use the weaving technique on your project.

Here is your inspiration building. This is the Longaberger building in Ohio, USA.

The colours are very pretty in the night sky.

I went with hues of blue for my project.

I cut a lot of strips in complementary colours and wove them into blocks in two places. Then I put the photo in the middle so that your eye travels diagonally down the page.

It works I think.

Have a go and add your project to the facebook page.

Cyber Crop- Hollywood theme

I'm very excited to tell you about something special going on at ARTastic this weekend. They're holding a cyber crop. It is Hollywood themed. How fun is that? I was asked to create a challenge for it. I just love my challenge and I hope you do too. Here it is:

JUNE CYBER CROP
Base your layout on the Hollywood Walk of Fame logo, using any number of the following criteria:
  1. Feature any of the words Hollywood, Walk, Fame.
  2. Use the colours of the logo: pink, gold, black and white.
  3. Use the design of the logo as a sketch.
  4. Use one giant star as the feature of your page.

I've use all of the colours in my layout. I very loosely followed the logo and I three different stars, as well as the title.

I really can't wait to see the entries for this.

Male 25th birthday card

I love playing along with the Stick it Down card sketch.

This month I have a special birthday to celebrate. My son turns 25. I will give this card to him on the weekend. I can't believe I became a Mother 25 years ago.  Wow, where did that time go?

18th birthday layout

Hey, check out this layout I did of my son on his 18th birthday.  Isn't he a cool dude?

This page is my design inspiration for June's challenge at ARTastic this month.

Below is the window display we are taking inspiration from.

The photos of my son reminded me of the screen in the middle of the window display. I've used black, cream and gold and a nod to dressing up/fashion. I've also added a frame to one pic.

I've followed the design principle of the three, using 3 photos and allowing the eye to move along the page diagonally.

Hope you can join us. You could do something really cool with this inspirational scene I'm sure.

I see leaves of green at Archi-scraps this month

 Hi there.

Singapore is a destination I have visited many times. It is a hub and a great stopover point from Perth, WA, where I live. It is also a wonderful place to go for lots of fun.

The Gardens by the bay are absolutely stunning and well worth spending a few hours at.

They are the inspiration for this month's Archiscraps challenge.

On our 2019 trip to Borneo we spent a lot of time in rainforests. I could have shown you some pages on Gardens by the Bay for inspiration, but that's not what this Designer does. Here is my page.

The extra criteria you need to add to you layout is USE LOTS OF LEAVES AND GREENERY.

The photos have leaves, the background paper has leaves, I have added die cut leaves and punched out border leaves. Also the title features leaves and there is green everywhere. Criteria met.

What will you do? Please have a go and enter this month.

I decided to make 2 cards. I loved the colour scheme so I chose that, plus pink tulips, black and white ribbon and sheet music.

Create a dynamic page or a subtle one

 Hello friends,

A new month and a new challenge. Archiscraps gives us an interesting one this month.

Create flying buttresses. One immediately thinks cathedral, yes?  Maybe not.  Check out what the other Designers did on the facebook page.

MAY- Flying buttresses.
Use a central picture (layout) or die cut/picture (card) and think of a way to have strips or curves coming out from it.

For me, I wanted something subtle. I chose to use vellum.  Here's my page.

I simply chose a single sheet of white A4 vellum and cut it using one of the cutting wheels on my American Crafts trimmer, (mini waves, like I said, subtle). I had two interesting photos so I used both, but put them in the centre of my page. Makes you focus on the photos, which I like.

Put your thinking caps on.
