A Christmas Card using non-traditional colours

Ho ho ho. Just like that it is December.

Have you decided to make some Christmas cards? This is the first one that I made this year.

The challenge at Unstampabelles for December 2017 is to do some zentangling. This can be as hard or as easy as you like. It's a lot of fun, give it a go.  Plus the twist is to make it Christmas, but non-traditional colours.

I've made my first Christmas card of the season.

I've used a stencil of a Christmas tree and some metallic pens to do the outlining and zentagling.

I've added a sticker sentiment mounted on to some really pretty silver sparkly cardstock. So the colours I've used of purple, silver and aqua make for really non-traditional Christmas colours. Had to make the star on top gold of course.

I look forward to seeing what you make.

Happy crafting,

Dale x

Here we have a card I made today for this month's challenge at Archiscraps.

This is the inspo photo and you need to use knots.  I have two.  They always find such quirky insp pics.

A layout about decision making

Tic Tac Toe TWIST journal about the decision making process

     RIBBON

                LACE

            STRING

   BUTTONS

              BLING

            BRADS

   FLOWERS

           DIE-CUTS

          STICKERS

Above is the challenge at Unstampabelles this month. I'm usually fairly decisive in general. I'm a Libran and quite balanced. It's my birthday month. Yay. In fact my birthday is on Saturday and I'm having a big party. Looking forward to it.

I've created a layout using the line ribbon, buttons and flowers.

The photo is of my pussycat lying on top of the clothes I have laid out ready to pack. She also loves to lay on top of our suitcases when we get them out.

Thanks for looking and I hope you decide to join in.

A card for Dad

I've made this masculine card for my DT submission in the September Unstampabelles challenge.

You need to use one or more sets of 3 and add cardboard as the twist, all without using stamps.

I've added 3 papers and 3 chipboard button embellishments.

If you're wondering what the red netting is, it is part of the packaging from a bunch of oranges. Adds great texture don't you think?

See how simple this month's challenge is?  You should enter. Here is what you could win.

Multi media scrapbook page

It's August.  That means all the horses have a birthday on 1 August.  It also means new challenges.

Here is the Unstampabelles challenge for this month:

#71 Collage, collage, collage... TWIST venture into multi- media here

August Collage, collage, collage... TWIST venture into multi- media here (multimedia means using two or more ideas so paint and texture paste or glue and paper or seed beads and paste/glue or ribbon and flowers and paint......)

I'm not a huge fan of multi - media, simply because it takes so long to finish a page.  I do find it fun though.

What I did to create this page was:
  1. Selected co-ordinating scraps of paper and adhered them to my page mostly on the right hand lower section of my brown cardstock.
  2. I used a pallete knife to spread texture paste over the same area.
  3. I pressed a piece of corrugated cardboard into the paste area.
  4. I pressed some bubble wrap over the paste area.
  5. I used several different mists over most the page.
  6. I adhered some buttons and two plastic tile separators (they look like crosses) on to my page.
  7. I matted my photo with patterned paper.
  8. I added some pretty pink Thickers as a title.
  9. I chose a co-ordinating journal paper and wrote on it and adhered it to my page.

What do you think?  I like it.  Now it is your turn!

Here is the prize up for grabs.

Thank you card using pen work

Hiya,

The July 2017 inspiration at Artastic challenge blog is:

Abstract by Robert Klippel

JULY inspiration is Abstract by Robert Klippel

I chose to make a card.  Here is what I did.

I chose a stencil that I thought I could work with.  Then I picked a number of pens in similar tones.

I got my trusty little CM clips and attached the stencil to white paper and cardboard to hold everything in place.

Then I proceeded to very carefully use my pens to trace along the lines in the stencil. I alternated colours. I used the ruler to hold the stencil still.

I used the paper as a backing paper for my card.  I showed my son and he thought it was a patterned paper so I thin it has been successful. I have also coloured in the thank you stamp.

Thanks for looking.

A layout on pink

Hey, it's July. It has finally become wintery in Western Australia. Cold and a bit rainy.

The new Unstampabelles challenge is up.

So, that is our challenge: recognise the special......

#70: Every Day is Special

TWIST lots of colour

I chose to do a layout.  It's of my lovely Nanny.

I hope you can join in with us.

Luxe gold card with leaf element

I have created another card for this month's Archiscraps challenge. You had to have something moveable or dangling.  I've used another unpaired ear ring on my card to meet the criteria.
It's a very pretty gold leaf.  I have decorated the inside and outside of the card in a very similar way. This card has a luxe look as the base is a shimmery gold cardstock and the other paper I have added has a vintage feel. Paired with gold washi and ribbon I think all of the elements match well.

Card for wedding lovebirds

I have created this card for a wedding. Now someone needs to invite me to theirs. I love weddings. Love is in the air, there's dancing, drinking and eating. What's not to like?

The luxe card and envelope, coupled with lace and ribbon give this card an expensive feel. I have added two gold rings tied in the ribbon to add a special touch.

This card is for Another-freaking-scrappy-challenge. The theme is wedding.

Thanks for looking.

Masculine card

Today I have made a card for a new challenge blog that I have found. It is Cards in Envy.

The challenge for this week is to make a masculine card. I like making these. I have a lot of men in my life and they like my cards.

There are some rules for this blog, no lumpy bumpy and you have to make a card, no tags. I assume a tag on a card is OK.  I've used inking, a border punch and stamping as my techniques.  A muted palette with pops of red.

I'm glad to find a new challenge.  Thanks for looking.

Foxy birthday card

The challenge at Unstampabelles for June is:

#69 To the Men in our Lives TWIST add an animal

To the men in our lives..... TWIST add an animal

Remember, don't use any stamps.

My son Damon turns 20 years old today. I made this card for him. He liked the fox.

He has been studying overseas in Ohio in the United States. (We live in Western Australia). He has been away since New Years Eve last year and he arrived home yesterday. I'm very happy to have him home. He had a great experience.

Let's see what you make. There is a mystery prize on offer this month.

A card using a repurposed item

A CARD

Oh My God!  What an incredible house this is.  Could you live in it? I don't know if I could even step out on to it and I don't have a fear of heights.

This is the inspiration piece at Archiscraps for this month.  You also need to add something that hangs.

Image may contain: sky and outdoor

I made this card. I've used the colours in the pic.  My hanging item is in the centre. Can you guess what it is?  It is a single ear ring made of metal and beads which I have repurposed. I think it looks pretty cool.

Thanks card for Kaisercraft

Feeling a bit sick atm. Winter is coming.

Yesterday I created this card for the May Kaisercraft challenge. Nothing like getting it in on the last day.

If you look below you will see a grid. I had to choose 3 letters to include with products starting with those letters.
I chose p for paper, b for blooms and s for stickers.
I've used 100% Kaisercraft products.

May Blog Challenge

I'm also entering this card in the card challenge CC62 at Soul Scrappers which is to make a thank you card.

Silver Medallists

It is possible that one or two of my readers may be wondering where my Chorus, A Cappella West, came in last Saturday's competition.  I can't believe a week has passed since we crossed the stage.

We placed second with a score of 614 and received a silver medal on a red ribbon. We are all very pleased and we scored consistently well across the four categories of sound, showmanship, expression and music.

Here are a few picks of the competition.

Our two Master Directors also won gold in the quartet competition for the 6th time in a row with their Quartet Hi-Jinx.

Hi all,

Feel free to wish me luck!

Here are three cards that have been created by a friend, Heather Richardson. Heather is a member of my Chorus and a big fan of die cuts. She doesn't have a blog so I said I would enter these 3 cards in the Unstampabelles challenge for her. This month the criteria is to use die cuts.

Party Girl card

It's the 1st of May.

Time for a new challenge over at Unstampabelles.

May - Layering is the way to go.... TWIST  use a border punch/die (or two)May Day; Mothers Day in Australia; Sorry Day in Aust;

Image result for martha stewart daisy fan punch
I have used this fabulous Martha Stewart Daisy Fan punch on my card.
I've taken four patterned papers and punched a border along each. I then layered them up over some orange cardstock. I added a hand made folded paper flower with an antique button for the centre. I also added some pretty green rhinestones for flower centres on the top layer of daisies. Then a simple sticker which I've layered using two of the green patterned papers that I used.

I must admit that I've used this technique once before. I liked it so much that I tried it again,

A fabulous card that has room for many to sign

So, I am a member of a 100 group female barbershop chorus called A Cappella West.

We also have in our midst the Australian champion quartet Hi Jinx.

We are competing in the Australian competition from 18 to 20 May.  I have created a card for the whole Chorus to sign and present to the Quartet members. I made it a 6"x 6" card with several inserts so all the members have room to leave their good wishes.

The Chorus colours are pink and black and these ladies are stars, hence the choice of paper.

I'm entering this is the Scrapping 4 fun challenge - anything goes.
