Day 365

You may have noticed that I do a fair few male-oriented cards. These are useful to me because I am surrounded by brothers, Uncles, Dads, sons and cousins who are male.

Today's card from 365 cards was to be inspired by the song Wind Beneath My Wings. Out of the lyrics of the song I took inspiration from the lines Did I ever tell you you're my hero?
You're everything, everything I wish I could be.

Here is the card I created.

As it so happens a girl was born into the family this week. My first cousin once removed, Mia, gave birth to a baby girl - Skye Lee Northrop.  Here she is in all her sleeping glory. Isn't she lovely? Shortly I'll need to make a baby girl card.

It's so hot

It is just so hot, even at night. It's also set to continue.

The number of officially "warm" nights is now 15, breaking the record of 13 set in 1985 and 1990, and the forecast is for more of the same for at least the next seven days.

Story continues below The run of temperatures over 37 degrees was downgraded at the weekend, but the maximum temperature is set to remain above 30 degrees for the next week also.

I think I'm starting to melt.

Day 362

Somehow I missed this day. Oh, dear. I will rectify that. Here is a card I am very pleased with. It is a flower that I have made. I love this card. I needed to use a button in a new embellishment. You'll see a couple representing the centre of the flower.

Day 364 for 365 Cards

I have just whipped up this card for the day 364 sketch of 365 cards. I wanted to make it a red, white and green combo which I've offset by having a black base.

Here is the sketch I had to use.

Thanks for looking.

Day 363

For Day 363 of 365 Cards the challenge was to create a "faux" frame. That is, not to use an actual frame but make up one yourself.

For this card I've used the negative of a wavy oval shape to create a frame. I've also used a white pen to create an oval frame around the word DAD which is the title and I wanted it to be highlighted.

Stylish Blogger Award - take a peek

Blow me away, I have received an award from a fellow blogger, by name of Harmony Sweetpea (her blog is at http://harmonydiy.blogspot.com/).

So now it is my duty to share seven random facts with you, then pass this award on to seven talented bloggers. So, here we go:

  1. I love Rick Springfield, have done since I was 14 and Jessie's Girl was first released in Australia. I got to meet him (and give his a smooch and a squeeze) last October. Bucket List item ticked off.
  2. I love to swim.
  3. Even though I haven't done it in  a while I really love to ride horses. We owned and trained race horses when I was growing up. What young girl doesn't want to have a horse?
  4. I have two handsome, talented and intelligent sons.
  5. Do I actually need to say it? SCRAPBOOKING is my hobby and passion.
  6. I'm in a book club, we meet once a month at The Left Bank.
  7. Blue is my favourite colour.
I now nominate the following talented bloggers for a Stylish Blog Award:

Tiffany - http://www.scraptiffany.com/ A very inspiration lady and a blog to match.

Debi - http://debisjoy.blogspot.com/ A lovely lady and I like her scrapping style, she has a lot of variety in what she creates.

Mandysea - http://teacupofscrapisms.blogspot.com/ Check out the eye candy here. Great name for a blog too.

Karen - http://karenshady.blogspot.com/ Can't miss out Karen. We were on a DT together and she's currently DT for Kaisercraft. I'm sure you've seen her stuff somewhere.

Nay and Gilly - http://nayandgilly.blogspot.com/ You get two ladies in one blog. Only a recent find but can recommend.

Natalie - http://onescrappydoctor.blogspot.com/ Fabulous creative artist and a doctor.  Talented.

Day 361

The challenge at 365 Cards today is to use a number. How easy is that?

I have made a card for a 12 year old who might like tennis. I've stamped the numbers and have the 12 outlined and facing forwards to emphasise it. It's a tall thin card.

Handmade by Suzanne

Today I completed (except for journalling which I'll have to consult DH about) my first ever layout for Handmade By Suzanne. This is a local WA online store I have just come across recently. The sketch used two photos and a die-cut background. I've made my own die-cut by cutting around a Scrap Within Reach/CarnivalRide/Fireworks 12x12" paper. I cut around the circles. I like the effect.

Mark looks like his Dad here.

Products used are:
Scrap Within Reach/CarnivalRide/Fireworks
American Crafts/Monogram/Sarah
Lilybee design/domestic bliss sticker
SWReach/C. Ride stickers
Cosmo Cricket/Party Time cardstock stickers
LYB/Clear Cuts/Shapes (the title)
Basic Grey/nook&pantry/element stickers

Day 360

The criteria for day 360 at 365 Cards was Imagine This: Good News.  Well, I know that would make me smile so I've added that word as my sentiment on the front. You could customise your wording inside. I made a couple of banners, added a sparkly brad and a little green heart pin. I like the colours, almost like spring. Spring always makes people happy. Could do without this relentless heat that we have been experiencing.

Day 359

Here is my example for Day 359 over at 365 cards. The criteria was blue, distressing and a button. I have distressed the blue cardstock which I used for the background, I've made a blue lace open flower and I've used a weave extra bright pink chipboard button.

Day 358 for Day 365 cards

Here's my interpretation of the inspiration for Day 358 at Day 365 cards. I make a lot of cards for my boys to give to friends at their birthday parties. All kids like lollies so that's what inspired me from the colour scheme below which is what you had to use.

On track

Had a pretty good week. Still did everything on the list of things. Gave myself a bit of a treat on Saturday which put my total up a bit I reckon as on Friday I was .5 less than today's weight but still met my target. So, here is the scales photo.  Slow going this weight loss for me. At least it's still a loss.

Twofer

Flutterby girl

I made this really fun, bright layout last night using pink and blue. It is for two challenges combined this month.
One is for ARTastic challenge blog. Criteria was have wings on the page, layout must be about you and use same multiple photos or mirror image.
The other is for a fun new site I found called Get Picky. They love multi photo layouts, which I like best. They had a sketch to use. I changed it a little but the basics are there. They have a Pink Paislee pack up for grabs and I would so love to win that.

Products used are:
Pink Paislee/Office Lingo Collection/Lunch Hour PP
Pink and blue ribbons with white stitching
Pink velvet strip with punched edge
Aqua velvet die-cut
Hambly screen print/Wings (pink butterflies)
CM blue PMP
AC Romance/Tainted Love PP
Pink Paislee/holly doodle/alphas/raspbery

Scrap Tiffany - Metal or wire challenge

Tiffany asked us Designers to bring back the metal or wire to our cards and layouts for this challenge. Here is my card "Joy".

I have combined my love of beading and card making for this challenge. I dipped into my stash of beads and made the stem and leaves of this flower with them and some green beading wire. I've used BG rubons and a die-cut flower as well. I created a circle punched hole in the front to sneak peek through to the pretty paper inside the card.

If you want to join the challenge go to http://www.scraptiffany.com/ for more inspiration from the other designers and you'll find Tiffany's email there too.

Show Us Your Stuff

I have completed February Challenge #2. Here is the sketch:

Here is my layout. You had to also include a quote. The quote is the title "Have the slime of your Life". It is the slogan of the Nickelodeon Suites Hotel in Orlando where we stayed. The whole hotel is themed on the Nickelodeon Fox TV channel. The figures in the photos are of characters dotted around the Hotel. Every challenge also has to include something handmade. I hand cut the slime puddle and also hand made the bucket tipping the slime out. Sliming is a major part of the Hotel's theming. They slime you in the pool and in a show we went to.

5 Kilos weigh in

OK, it's weigh in day. I vowed to:

•lay off the sugary processed foods and drinks

•walk 2-3 times per week (already do this)

•swim laps or walk around the bridges with a friend once a week (about an 1 hr 15 minute)

•eat more fruit and veg

•do floor exercises each day in my lounge room in front of the TV (used to do this)

I did all of the above and I reached my goal weigh loss for the week of 0.5kg. Here are the scales photo from this morning to prove it.

I'm satisfied with this result. I've only ever tried to lose weight once before. My plan is to do the same again this week.

Day 349

Day 349 is about keeping it simple and muted. This is a really simple, elegant card for Father's Day or it could be for your Father's birthday too. I've used shades of grey and added a dragonfly for a point of interest.

Disney on Parade

The Scrapbook Circle have a new blog and are now doing challenges. This fortnight it is fussy cutting. I have created this two page spread on Disney. Who doesn't love Disney? I know I do. This is the Hong Kong Disneyland. There is a lot of cutting here. I've also paper pieced a little dwarf (one of the seven). Isn't he cute? Here are both pages separately.

Day 345 - Rock Star

The challenge today at 365 cards is to add some rock star style to your card. These are two clothing tags from boys clothes that I've used and I've added a little metal guitar. Pretty simple huh? Great card for a male though I reckon. They like em simple.

Get Picky reveal

Boy, am I on a roll this morning. I whipped up this page in 10 minutes. I must admit that I did have the song printed out from about a week ago with the plan to scrap it. My page is about letting go of the apron strings as my son ventures off to high school. It's a fair way from home so he has to catch public transport home, a train and a bus. At 12 years old I really felt anxious about it and accompanied him for a while til he got familiar with it. Can't keep them young forever though as much as you might wish it. Hence, the stay forever young title. Love you Damon. xxx

Stay Forever Young

Products used:
Carolee's Creations - Tumbleweed PP, Websters Pages - Wonderfall Back to School PP, blue ink, brown pen, Bella Blvd Midterm tiny letters

Show Us Your Stuff

What a busy little blogger I have been just lately. I am entering this layout in the February 2011 challenge for Show Us Your Stuff. The requirement is to do a layout, card or OTP based on love. It can be any type of love. You must include a handmade heart on there. Here is a layout I have done for my wedding anniversary in 2008. One of my children took the photo. I've torn 3 hearts into different sizes from some patterned paper.  I've also stitched a title on to the main framed photo.

Anniversary card - ssshh, don't tell Paul

I have made a lovely cream card for our wedding anniversary next month. Don't tell my husband as it has to be a surprise for him. I stumbled across a challenge at My Sheri's Craft that calls for anniversary creations so I thought I'd put this up for that.

365 cards - Day 344

Round inchies - rinchies. Who thought that up?
Here is a card I made with loads of them all folded up to make a flower.

Punky Scraps #6 challenge

Happy Couple

I took the in inspiration of the pink petals falling. This is a photo of my aunt's wedding to my uncle, I was their bridesmaid.

5 Kilos

Today is the day. The challenge is on. I have weighed myself, photo taken, see below, been for my walk. Goal for the week weight wise is to lose 0.5. Wish me luck.

Kaisercraft Sketch #1 for February 2011

Here is the sketch which I had to work with. I flipped the left hand page around once to work better with my photos. The right side features a pocket. One of their latest collections has a pocket page you can purchase. I'm quite comfortable with making my own as I've done it quite a few times over the years. In my pocket is our souvenir guide which opens out quite spectacularly to show the views from the top of the ESB in a 360 format.  Had to purchase it separately but it's worth it. I've got lots more photos of the actual views which I'll have to do another double pager on.
I love that in the photo I took of Paul taking a photo I captured a bird flying past.

Products used are :
Kaisercraft:
Pack your Bags - Tickets and Compass pps, Cocco - Cinamon Sugar PP, Military - Crusade PP, Konstrukt - Toolbox PP, Pack Yours Bags Brads and Rub-ons, Lush PP, Seaside Collection Printed Tags
