Paper folding and lace flower on a layout

 Hello friends,

I've created a layout today featuring my two sons.

I'm entering this one into three challenges.

1. Scrap The Boys  - put a flower on it

2. Stick it down - single page sketch

August Single Page Sketch

3. Mystical scrapbooks - use a handmade textile embellishment

I chose to use the colours in the photos of black, white and red. I have also picked up on the decor at the Restaurant. I have done some punching and made some paper folded napkins out of Japanese paper. Lastly, I have added a hand made lace flower.

Rocket Boy - Scrapbook Page

This month's challenge at Scrap the boys was impossible to pass up.  Just look at this.

Here is my entry.

My son Mark was quite obsessed with the Thunderbirds TV show but liked space in general.  He's wearing a space t-shirt from Pumpkin Patch. Such a cute smile.

Thanks for looking.

Feeds The Birds for Scrap the Boys - Oct 2015

Wow, what a beautiful mood board at Scrap the boys this month. It's just gorgeous.

I've used the wood and aqua as my main inspiration.

I have had this really pretty background patterned paper by Fab Scraps for simply ages. It was great to have a chance to use it. I've added some die cuts and washi, amongst other things to my layout.

A travel layout

I created this layout titled "Siloso Beach" today. On Sentosa Island, at Siloso Beach, they have these giant letters which just beg for photos. My sons and I climbed on top of them and Paul took some snapshots.

This layout is entered into this month's Scrap The Boys competition, which is the following sketch:

Also, it is entered into Soul Scrappers ISDTRV competition. Paula's challenge is to create a travel layout. Happy International Scrapbookers Day by the way.

The Bushfire Boys for Scrap The Boys

The challenge for October 2014 at Scrap The Boys is technology savvy.

My photos certainly fit the bill. Mark is giving a presentation at School on bushfires. He's using his MacBook, plus various other visual aids as well as answering questions. He and his team did a great job.

Here's my layout. I've misted using a stencil on a different piece of paper and then used the stencil on this piece of paper to create the background.

Sept 2014 Scrap The Boys layout

SCRAP THE BOYS have a challenge this month to catch your boy doing something around the house such as ironing, cooking, etc.

My son Mark has been learning to cook over the last year and quite enjoys it. His appetite has increased also, being a growing teen, the eating part after the cooking also appeals. The cleaning up, not so much.

Hubby helped him prepare banana pancakes for a Mother's Day breakfast treat. They were delicious too.

Here is my layout.

OMG 1st Driving Lesson! for Scrap The Boys

I have created this layout to satisfy March's Scrap The Boys challenge. It is a colour combo of blue/green and yellow. Simply perfect for a boy's layout and green & blue is my go to colour combo.

My 16yo son Damon had his first driving lesson last December. I was so not ready for that to happen. When he was a little boy he told me he never wanted to learn to drive. I suggested that he might change his mind when he got older and sure enough that was true. Happily he is not desperately keen to hurry up and get his license. Steady as she goes.  I'm sure not ready for him to be driving around my car. Yikes.

New Home for Scrap The Boys

We brought home a kitten on 18 December 2013. Her name is Georgia and we adopted her from the Cat Haven. She is for all of us but it is the first pet Mark has ever had. That first day she just didn't stop purring. We had to keep her in the Laundry for a while til she acclimatised. We all took turns staying with her and keeping her company.

I've entered this layout in January's Scrap the boys challenge which is to make a layout about something new.

Thanks for looking.

Pool layout for STB

It's outdoorsy pics that are required for this month's challenge at Scrap The Boys. I've got my boys and their 2 mates playing in our pool on Boxing Day.

Back to School page

The 3 years difference in my boys ages really shows up in the photo. I always take a photo on the first day of the School year and measure and weigh my boys on the first and last day of the year to show how much they've grown.

I've created this layout for 2 boy challenges:

Scrap The Boys wanted a monochromatic page with twine and chipboard. I chose yellow due to Mark's school shirt. The CB is the clock and I have Maya Rd yellow/white twine in a bow.

About A Boy asked for a back to school layout for their 1 August challenge. In the USA kids are going back to School after summer break. My photo is obviously a summer one but that's no problem.

Scrap The Boys layout - It' All About the Hair

At 15 a boy's style is all about hair. Growing it, flicking and styling it just right. It starts around 13 and goes to about 15. Then it's more about other things.

Scrap The Boys' July 2013 challenge is to use a black and white head shot of your boy. Easy, peasy. I'd been wanting to use a black and white photo lately anyway. This page came together very easily. I love to use hexagons. I have 2 Creative Memories punches that punch out hexagons in 4 different sizes. I used pen to highlight the edges of them and popped up the ones with the circle pattern on them with pop dots. I used only the few colours to create cohesion.

Thanks for looking.

Scrap The Boys - Time for Tennis

The challenge at Scrap The Boys this month is a really easy one for me, scrap a sport page. I'm always doing these. Also have to use the colours, red, yellow, orange or teal. At least 2. I've used all 4, but mostly yellow as that's the colour shirt the boys are wearing.  Here's my layout.

Thanks for looking.

Play Hard for Scrap The Boys

ANOTHER CRICKET PAGE

Scrap the Boys have some wonderful sponsors this month. I always mean to do their challenges but don't always get around to it. Who could resist this month though.  Here is the criteria:

2 photos 6 x 4 or smaller. I have had to add 3 as they were all needed for the story. Hope that doesn't disqualify me.
Chipboard - I have 4 pieces, the clouds, the title and the date.
Washi tape - bottom right hand corner chevrons
mists/paints - I have used a round tube to add circles to my patterned paper that already had white circles on it. I always enjoy adding an abstract "ball" reference to my sports pages.

The layout is about my son Damon's first game with his District cricket team, Under 17s Melville Storm. Their team colours and blue and white so I have used those and added green and taupe.

Thanks for looking and check out the other inspiring layouts at Scrap the boys.

STB School sub

I have created this layout for Scrap The Boys July challenge, which is to use School photos. I always take photos of my boys on the first day of each School year. This one is for Damon's album so it is about him starting Year 7, his last year of primary school. I've used a lot of Basic Grey's Oxford collection as it suited so well.

School holidays begin at close of School today so I'll have my boys home with me for 2 weeks. Lots of nice sleep-ins. Hopefully the weather won't be too bad. It's been gorgeous all week and the dark clouds are just starting to gather now.

Thanks for looking.

Scrap The Boys November challenge

It's a very bright day today. I've taken two shots of this layout and couldn't decide which I preferred so I've put them both in this post.

Today I've made this layout for Scrap The Boys. The challenge is to show your team colours. Easy peasy for me. I have a host of sporting photos to choose from. These shots are ones I took of my 11 year old son playing footy. He's a bit of a star I must say so I had to include one for him. I've also got a Scrap FX CB boot which I've painted the same as his actual footy boots he's wearing in the photos. He really does put his all into the game and he makes me so proud. I love to watch his play. It's always a pleasure. I'm documenting his career in an album so this page is for inclusion in it.

Pinup Boy for Scrap the Boys

This charming boy's room below was the inspiration for this month's challenge at Scrap The Boys challenge site. My layout features my son Damon, dressed all in Billabong clothing, in front of the Billabong shop in City Walk at Universal Studios. It wasn't open when we got there but we had a chance to go inside later. There is a fabulous whooshing water feature out the front of the shop which is why I've incorporated the wavy patterned paper, plus Billabong is a surf brand. I've also used a clothing tag from one of Damon's pairs of boardshorts on the layout.

Scrap the Boys - Play The Game

JULY CHALLENGE...

This month your challenge is to use TAPE on your layout, this can be decorative tape, masking tape or even think outside of the square and make your own.
You also need to use PLAY in your title.

I've never used tape on a layout before. I chose masking tape but I didn't want to just tear some off and lay it on there. I have recently (last week) acquired a chipboard piece with a tree shape. I traced the tree out on a piece of BG pp. I then used lots of little pieces of masking tape and wrapped them around the trunk. What do you think?
Excuse the photos. They were taken inside as it is a rainy and grey day outside.

Here is my layout. It's of my 14yo's last footy match.

Sorry, I've had to remove this image as it is being published in Scrapbook News and Review magazine on 18 September 2011.
This is also for a Creative Team call at Scrap The Boys. Most of my layouts feature boys so it is something I would dearly love to be a part of. I think I could add something a little different too to their Creative Team. Wish me luck!

Scrap The Boys sub for June

At Scrap The Boys this month there is a colour challenge (see above).  Here's a fun layout of my youngest boy Mark. It took forever for him to get a bird to land on him and feed it some fruit. He was getting quite upset about it and was thrilled to finally achieve it. You can see the pleasure in his face. I'm glad I could capture it in a photo and scrap it.
