CSI Case File #116 - PT 50

The scene image this week pretty much depicts what my husband thinks about and owns except the guitars are missing. Therefore, I had to make a page about him.

Paul turned 50 last month and he desperately wanted a new piece of musical equipment. He already had a similar item but this one is better so he upgraded. He ordered it a bit late so it didn't arrive on his birthday, but 2 weeks later.

Evidence is met by:

  • music elements
  • metal (on brads)
  • solid black background
  • diagonal cross hatch pattern
Testimony:
  • journal on several different journalling spots
  • Be inspired by Memoirs (http://blog.memeoirs.com/2014/01/15-inspiring-quotes-about-music-from-famous-artists/). Links to the post I got the quote by Bono from.
This was my last week as a special agent at CSI. I've really enjoyed my time there. I do love the challenges they pose and wish to thank Debbi and Julene for giving me the opportunity.

Unique with a fair whack of Attitude

UPDATE: MY LAYOUT WON RUNNER UP FOR THE MONTH OF MARCH

I have taken the time to create a layout today. The afternoon is the best time for me to do this as my kitten naps.

Here is Saturday's sketch at Kaisercraft.

Screen shot 2014-02-19 at 3.30.41 PM

Here is the layout I created using it as my inspiration.

The techniques that feature on this layout are distressing, inking and layering. It is 100% Kaisercraft.

Thanks for looking.

CSI 115 my Special Agent take on it - How We Sang

Continuing on with my collaboration layouts between CSI and Archi-scraps here is my Special Agent example for Case File 115. How cute is the image?

I was given a terrific photo taken by my fellow bass, Ruth, from A Cappella West. I'm the one with the burgundy top and brown skirt. Terrific colours for this week's challenge.
The background artisan paper by My Mind's Eye struck me as particularly suitable, with the colours and the flowiness from the "scene" picture. They do such marvellous artisan papers.
I've added 3 Prima flowers to meet the evidence. I also added a rolled rose which I have made using the Cosmo Cricket Gluber adhesive and an old chiffon scarf that had a few holes in. Such a terrific way to recycle the scarf. It had just the right colours. I've also added a couple of D'Lish leaves that were complementary. I have a bird on the MME tag.
My testimony is to wind and curl like the hair (the words of the song we are singing). Then I have more journalling on the tag, because I love to tell the story of the layout.

INXS for Counterfeit Challenge for March 2014

UPDATE: MY LAYOUT WAS PICKED AS ONE OF THE FAB 6 FOR THE MONTH OF MARCH

The inspiration challenge at Counterfeit kit this month is stars. I often add stars to my layouts. It's gender neutral and just fun.

I've created this design using Creative Memories wavy trimmer and star punch. Creates drama don't you think?

OMG 1st Driving Lesson! for Scrap The Boys

I have created this layout to satisfy March's Scrap The Boys challenge. It is a colour combo of blue/green and yellow. Simply perfect for a boy's layout and green & blue is my go to colour combo.

My 16yo son Damon had his first driving lesson last December. I was so not ready for that to happen. When he was a little boy he told me he never wanted to learn to drive. I suggested that he might change his mind when he got older and sure enough that was true. Happily he is not desperately keen to hurry up and get his license. Steady as she goes.  I'm sure not ready for him to be driving around my car. Yikes.

CSI Case File #114 - Dale

CSI Case File #114 is an interesting one. I admired the sketch supplied.

I have chosen to go with just my name and not a photo.

I started off with the green cardstock to match the colour palette. Then I have added a black loopy border to it, part of the evidence. The up and down pieces are ribbon and washi tape and stickers. I've added some gorgeous black rub ons, some more green stricker strip horizontally in the green. I used some large Creative Memories stickers for my name. The journalling is my testimony. Write about your name, nicknames. I've used numbers to list all of my  nicknames.
I simply love the lady stamp that I've used.
Why not take a look at how the other agents solved the case. It's very inspiring. Some terrific ideas to scrap list.

Thank you card - music theme

Flourish With A Bling March challenge
My card = Just a note to say thanks

I happen to really like the colour combination for the challenge at Flourish with a bling this month. I think it is quite pretty indeed.

This is a really big card. It is 12" tall and 6" wide. I have made it to give to an international music teacher who is coming over from the USA to spend a weekend at retreat with the chorus I'm in. So it had to take a lot of signatures. I think around 70 people will be attending. I chose to decorate inside as well, just to make it even nicer.

I've used all the colours and plenty of bling.
FWAB products are:

purple and black flowers with bling centres
Jasmine, Teal

Wk 43 Papercrafter's Monday Mag challenge

My PAPERCRAFTER'S CORNER challenge entry

Papercrafting Inspiration: Magazine Mondays - Week Forty-Three Inspiration Piece (Image)

When looking at the inspiration piece I remembered Kaisercraft's Hunt & Gather collection had a grid paper in the right colour scheme.  I started my card with an American Craft's orange base cardstock. I've added some 6x6 paper from the Hunt & Gather paper pad, along with another piece from the pad that had the grid of camping images. I then added a fancy fabric flower with a button centre through which I pushed a Prima butterfly pin. The first image I noticed on the magazine was the butterfly and butterflies are an object in nature so it suited. Lastly I have added a wood piece for my sentiment that came with some string which I have threaded around the button.

Thanks for visiting.

CSI #113 Collaborating Agent layout

Due to Archi-scraps and CSI's collaboration this month I get to be a Collaborating Agent for the month of March. How cool does my layout look surrounded by that frame?

Here is this week's case file to solve:

The Scene reminds me of the cover of a Frankie magazine.  I picked up on the birds from the image. I'm sure the colours will appeal to lots of people. It would be a good one if you have girls and boys in your photos/family.

My evidence is :

  • ledger paper
  • cameras
  • hearts
  • birds
  • scallops
  • stripes
My testimony is:
  • Zoom in on your photo and tell about a part of your picture.
I have recreated the hoop the bird goes through in the photo using white cardstock and my CM circle cutters. I put a die-cut and a bird sticker in the centre. I also used a sticker flower frame to zoom in and focus on the bird in the photo.

Why not join in? It's a fun challenge.

Special challenge at Soul Scrappers

Do you like my little Home ATC? It represents a special challenge I am hosting at Soul Scrappers. It's called Soul Scrapper's Quest 21. I have 15 goodie bags that each contain 16 scrappy items for a page. 3 spots are already taken. If you put your name down on this post here I will post a bag out to you. All the details are there as well. 4 prizes up for grabs. Layout must be in the SSQ21 gallery by 31 April to qualify.
Hope you can join in.  Here is the example I made with my goodies.

I have used all 16 items. I have added only 3 extra items, all by Webster's Pages.
The background paper, a 6x4 piece of patterned paper and the alpha stickers in the title.

Mystical Cyber Crop - March mood board

Mood Board Cyber Crop starts 5pm WST 7/3/14

This month's cyber crop is a mood board. Each Designer has made their own.  Here is the link to my Mood Board for March Click

I've given a few options, education would be the obvious choice of topic to go for, which is what I did.

My base paper is by Simple Stories. I really love this relative newcomer to the industry. Click here to learn more about the Company from it's owner Amber. The quality of the paper and thickness makes it a pleasure to work with.

Like one of my mood board pics I have created a torn paper apple. I freehand drew an apple shape, cut it out, pasted it with Mod Podge and adhered all the little pieces of scrap paper I had torn up. Then I neatened off the edges with scissors.

I also hand drew an arrow, like the mood board one and drew lines on it with a thick brown pen. Then I coloured in in with various other coloured pens. It matches nicely to the stripes on the Simple Stories paper and highlights my son in this large group photo.

Products from the Mystical Scrapbooks shop used are:

Simple Stories - Year-o-graphy/Year In Review paper
Basic Grey Serenade/Shilling paper
jillibean soup/Grandma's lima Bean Soup stickers

A wedding layout for Mystical's Rapunzel Fairytale - Ch#8

I chose the last fairytale, Rapunzel, for Mystical's competition. It's the last challenge. Hurry up and get your entries in as it's finishing up soon.

Here is the criteria:

Jane Howden's photo.

Here is my layout:

You'll notice there is no journalling, which is unusual for me, but this layout is only one in a series (yet to create the others) of my sister-in-law's third wedding.  Here bouquet was lovely but she didn't hold on to it for very long so I was glad to get a picture of it.

I've used all the colours in the palette. The light blue is only in the tiny alphabet letters (and a bit in the top photo). Otherwise the other colours all feature prominently. Wedding photo (tick), garden (flower arrangement).

Products from the Mystical store are:

fuschia cardstock, green cardstock
October Afternoon Farmhouse/Church Social paper (background) What an appropriate name for my background paper as the wedding is in a chapel, it also has flowers all over it. I really like the quality of October Afternoon's papers. It's terrific to use as a background
FWAB Chloe, Olive Green
Prima Strawberry Kisses flower
LYB Love Letters cardstock sticker
MME Lime Twist Happy Go Lucky "Together" alphas (also a nice name for this layout)
white flowers
