Day 59 - Kraft

I'm not a big fan of kraft. In my whole collection I have one 12" sheet and this Jillibean Soup 12" sheet with soft green paisley print. You'd think, having boys, I'd use it more but no.

Anyhow the challenge at 365 cards for day 59 is kraft and nature.  This is my submission. It's a thank you card.

Day 58

365 Cards submission
Day 58 - Subliminal Messages

You know how when you go to the movie theater they flash yummy looking images of popcorn, soda and candy all over the screen? You'd think they were sending subliminal messages. Your challenge is to use an image of food or beverage that looks good enough to eat/drink. It should be large and the focal point of the card.

I've made the cheapest card you could virtually make. When I go to Luna SX theatres in Fremantle they always have interesting free postcards. I often pick out a couple to use on cards. I have this great one of an icecream cone with a strawberry on top. I dabbed Kindy Glitz on the strawberry seeds, added a little pink pearls and stuck it on a white card. Voila.

5 Kilos, Easter and Mark's birthday

BRIGHT AND SHINY

I varied up my exercising this week. Had a turn at Wii tennis, went to the oval and kicked the footy about twice and did a whole lot of gardening, only went walking the one time.

Had a wonderful Easter break. The Easter Bunny was very kind.

My beautiful boy turned 11 yesterday.  Here's just one of the many pics.

DULL AND LACKLUSTRE

My mini goal last week was not to put on weight this week. I knew it would be hard. I failed. I put back on the .4 I took off last week.  All things considered, this is not as bad as it could have been. Easter, birthday, School holidays and waking up at 4am in the morning have all played their part.

I did have a piece of the above lemon cake, albeit a small one. That's the first piece of cake since starting out on this journey.

The Easter Bunny was very generous to me. Mark made me a card that had "To my awesome Mummy" on the front. (That was really was bright and shiny.)

Now I did have two of those little bunnies and two of the crunchie eggs. I do love chocolate but can be pretty good at only eating it in moderation. Plus, not pictured, hubby gave me a box of Lindt ball chocs. Sigh.

So, last week I had lost 4 out of the 5 kilos but this week I backslid by .4. One week left. Unless I starve myself I won't be losing the last kilo this week but I will keep trying regardless. My actual goal is to reach 65kgs and keep at or below that weight.

Hope everyone did well this week.

Publication available today - SNR

The April publication of online magazine Scrapbook News and Reviews is out today. If you're a subscriber you can see my layout "Curls" in the Scrap Your Stash - Flowers section.  Not bad for a girl who is the Mum of boys and doesn't use flowers very much. Love it.  Here's the link to save you time : http://www.scrapbooknewsandreview.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=3731:4-scrap-your-stash-flowers&catid=311:current-calls&Itemid=100868

A new challenge blog (for me)

It's The Lollipop Ladies. Aren't they the people who direct pedestrians at School crossings? Of course they can be men too. Our latest one is a man.

Their challenge is to create an Easter project with sparkle. Here's a layout I've done of my boys pretending to be easter bunnies. It's called Hippity Hop and the letters in the title are glittery. I have made a paper pieced bunny head peeking at the bottom corner.

Days 54 and 55 for 365 Cards

Hi folks,

I haven't participated for a while at 365 Cards. April has been so busy and I spent a lot of my papercrafting time working on my Kaisercraft DT application.

Day 54 - Use a Bunny

Day 55 - A sketch

I made this card with giving it to a male in mind. The clock image is stamped.

Kaisercraft April '11 Sketch #4

I've had a go at yesterday's sketch on the Kaisercraft blog. It's a great double. The pictures aren't great as it's quite overcast here today.

I've used papers from Class of '87, Rustic Charm, Rewind, Konstruct and Enchanted Forest.
I've also used Cherry Arte CB Morocco, Crate Paper Toy Box CB, Been There Done That VIC ABC rub-ons and BG Obscure Die-cuts.
Happy Easter everyone. I hope your day is full of sunshiney happiness. I discovered that the Easter Bunny had visited me this morning. Walked out of my bedroom and there were some yummy goodies there. Lucky me. I felt like a kid again.

Kaisercraft Design Team 2011 Call blog post

Welcome to my application for the Kaisercraft Design Team. I have a selection of paper crafting projects to show you.

First section = OFF THE PAGE.

I have created a handbag for my front lobby. I love the new Chanteuse collection. This is the first off the page item I have kept as I usually give them as gifts, but I purposely created this one for our home.

Second Section = CARDS

Life Is a Beach
I've used the Seaside papers here and raised them with foam dots to give dimension. I've also created a shaker box using beads in the same colourway.

One of a Kind
Here I've done some punching, added some ribbon and flowers for a pretty, girly card.

U are One of a Kind
I've started with white cardstock. I've punched out lots of little flowers, bent up each petal to add dimension and added one green one with a Kaiser ice green pearl to make it stand out as "One of a Kind".

Section 3 - LAYOUTS

Grade Six
I've created this School layout using Class of '87. Here is my son on his first day of Grade Six. I chose a play on ABC blocks for the accents.

Central Park
I've used a variety of different Kaisercraft collections for this layout, just so long as they had the same colour scheme. I got the idea for this layout from a car advertisment in our local TV guide. I've just cut different strips of PP, faux stitched in different ways on them with coloured pens and added them randomly to the page. I like the effect.

Indoor Karting
I though the Shaken Not Stirred collection was so cool. We all love James Bond in this family. We even made some family movies called Bames Jond. Instead of uber-cool and successful, Bames was a bumbling spy code-named 0007. The collection was perfeThisct for my son's birthday party layout.

Xmas 2010
Here is a double I made for our family tradition of Kris Kringle gift-giving. The guys page is on the left and the girls page is on the right. They are subtley different but still matching. I've used some wooden frames as journal boxes.

Empire State Building
I love to make travel albums. Recently we went to the US and I've been doing lots of pages on that trip. Here is a double I made for one of the recent Saturday sketches over at Kaiser. It was a double with a pocket page on the right. I made my own pocket and have slipped in the tourist guide map for the view from the top (which is incredible btw).

So, there you have it. I'm hoping the selection panel over at Kaisercraft love my creations. I certainly love their products and love scrapbooking to bits. I'd be honoured to be on their team and would feel blessed to be chosen.

Thanks for looking.

5 Kilos

Yay, I've reached my goal from last week which was to weight 65.something. So, that is exactly 4 kilos off, one more to go. That's .4 for last week. That's .7 for the 2 weeks.

Mini goal - not to put on weight this week. It is the start of the School holidays so routine will be out of the window, plus Easter this weekend and my son's birthday on Tuesday. I was good on Sunday. I held a party for him, cupcakes, cake, savoury snacks. I only ate a couple of the savoury snacks. I do like cake but it was one of the things I have given up in order to lose weight, so that was a personal win for me.

Easter Parade

Last day of School today and the traditional annual Easter Assembly was held. Didn't win any prizes. Here is Mark in his hat. The girl behind him won. His was better.

This is the little basket I made for Mark's Teacher. I've used Kaisercraft's Class of '87 papers.

The Paper Variety

THIS LAYOUT HAS BEEN SELECTED FOR PUBLICATION IN SCRAPBOOK NEWS AND REVIEW MAGAZINE NEXT MONTH.

Flowers. I know loads of you scrappers out there just love em to bits. I don't get to use them that much, being surrounded by boys/men and all. I do like them though.

This layout features lots of them. It has lots of different home made ones and various others as well.  This is for the current challenge at The Paper Variety.

A card in blue and white

Here is a card I made today for Cardabilities. It's from a sketch. I've used blues and white. I hand tore the flower, have added some broderie anglaise and a bit of tulle through the hole in the key. Also, a little fabric ladybug. I love ladybugs.

Travel Memories for April's ARTastic challenge

Today I've scrapped another page toward my US holiday albums. This one is our first day in Washington. It is for ARTastic challenge blog. Criteria was to use cloud/s, tree/s and autumn colours and to be inspired by the following painting:

Autumn Wonder by Debbie Adams

Stamped image challenge for Scrap Tiffany

Today's challenge for us Designers at Scrap Tiffany was to use a stamped image. I received this very cute little boy image through a swap at Amanda's swaps. I started with him. I coloured him in using my pens and I used a pencil for his face. Then I've used a few Basic Grey Wander elements, the title and arrow are made using rub-ons. I also have a chipboard image with the helicopter.

ScrapTiffany Recycled Blog Hop, plus a giveaway

Hi. I'm Dale, a very keen scrapbooker and cardmaker from Western Australia.

Welcome to the Scrap Tiffany Recycled Blog Hop. If you'd like to start at the beginning of the hop go to here.

I have chosen to make a gift box. I'm recycling a box of Blaq socks I gave my hubby for Christmas. I'm transforming it into a box to enclose his Anniversary cufflinks. As it's for a man I've chosen a classic black and white colour scheme.

The box was already black to begin with. It slid in and out.

I then simply put the gift on some tissue paper into the slide in part of the box and set aside.

I covered the outside of the box with Upsy Daisy Designs patterned paper. Then I attached some interesting white ribbon. I cut out a design from another piece of patterned paper by Upsy Daisy Designs and attached it to the top using pop dots to give it some dimension.

I think you'll agree that this now looks a little different to the original and is certainly an improvement. Plus, as the box slides in and out it can even be re-used again. I will have to give it to someone other than my husband though as twice is enough.

Here is Paul receiving his cufflinks. He was very happy with them.

I've also created a layout about the gift giving. It was the occasion of our 16th wedding anniversary. All the products used on the page are by Kaisercraft.

I'm also running a giveaway in conjunction with this blog hop. It's very simple to enter. Merely be a follower and leave a comment on this post. I'll draw the winner after the hop has concluded. Here is my prize. It is all winter-themed.

Thanks for persisting with this very long post. I hope you liked what you saw and now I'll send you on your way to Danielle.

5 Kilos

Weigh in day. Lost .3. On Monday I was down to 66.0 so I'm a bit disappointed because I was hoping to be 65.something today. All that kicking the footy with my son and hurting my thumb yesterday and standing out in the sun handing out swimming ribbons didn't do any good for my weight loss journey. Determined to do better this week. Here's the scales photo.
I'm just adding in the link to a weight loss site, as per the challenge this week. I posted before the challenge went up. My Mum came over yesterday and we spent the day together. It was her birthday. She always buys Woman's Day magazine and then passes them on to me. I noticed they had a health and diet link in their website so I went to take a look. It's full of great stuff. Check it out at http://womansday.ninemsn.com.au/health-and-diet/.

Scrap The Boys

Scrap the boys. That's what I'm always doing, well most of the time. But there is a challenge blog called that and their current challenge is to get inspired by an outfit worn by your boy/male relative etc. So I give you "The Newsboy Cap". My two brothers, bookends to my cousin Lee are wearing their newsboy caps. Lee is wearing mine. Well, it was in fashion in the 70's! I have added papers to match their clothing and buttons, because buttons are part of clothing and the title says it all. Brown and blue are very complementary boy layout colours. As the photo is "vintage" (sorry guys) the colours are muted.

Tags Galore

I've been making a lot of tags lately.  I made these ones with my left over Serendipity Squares from my Tuesday Tutuorial with Scrap Tiffany this week. These are for a swap I'm doing this month. I made 7 of them.

I made these two tags for a challenge at Scrapbook Savvy last month. One is a birthday tag and the other is a Mother's Day tag.
