Fancy fold Christmas card for December challenge at Unstampabelles

 Hello. Welcome to December 2020.

Time for a new challenge. You can make anything but it must include the following:

#107 December: Joy -

the emotion evoked by well-being, success, or good fortune or by the prospect of possessing what one desires : DELIGHT; the expression or exhibition of such emotion : GAIETY: a state of happiness or felicity : BLISS: a source or cause of delight

                    TWIST : a music twist...ie Carols/ Carol singing; instruments; drummer boys; bird song; concerts; music bringing joy

I have chosen to make a fancy fold card. Thanks to Mitzi for the pattern.

I will give this card to my son's girlfriend's family.  The girlfriend wrote the Christmas message for me, but she didn't know it was going to be used in her own card. It will be a nice surprise for her I hope.

I've also made another card using this pattern to enter into Mitzi's challenge at Soul Scrappers.

Do you have a preference? They are the same design but give a different feel. Second one suits a family with kids I think.

Scalloped card and extra technique

 Hello. December at last.

Time to show you the Archi-scraps challenge for this month.

Here is the image and the criteria is to use scallops.

I chose to use Martha Stewart's large Daisy Scallop punch to create some scalloped layers on a card.

I picked the Lawn Fawn 6x6 Dandy Day petite paper pack. I liked the softer colours. I want to give this to a dear girl for her 21st birthday.  (I am making this in September. We share an early October birthday).

I often like to decorate the inside as well. Good to use up the left over strip from the front and tiny bit of ribbon.

To create the front of the card I chose 3 pastel layers. I chose matching pearls for the flower centres. I have added a stamped image in grey and purple. Then for the final touch I added a flower with the same colours and a brad as the centre.

Now there were a lot of  petal shapes punched out and I wanted to do something with them.

I glued them down in a flower pattern with a couple of layers on to the other two left over strips. Then, I glued on a button.  I now have some value added embellishments to use on future projects and have minimised any waste.

ARTastic December challenge - Wildflowers

 As so this is Christmas.  Well, nearly. I've been in Christmas mode for some time.

A lovely challenge this month at ARTastic. Here is the inspo pic and there is no added criteria.

I've used flower photos from my August 2020 Broome holiday. I had a lot to choose from. I made a double page layout.

I let the photos speak for themselves.

Guest Designer at Stick it Down

 Hello everyone,

My card was chosen as winner of the September card sketch challenge at Stick it down.

This means I was offered a Guest Designer position for November.

Here is the sketch I was given to work with.

Here is the card I made.

I started with some white cardstock on which I sprayed some green and purple ink.  I mounted that paper on some kraft patterned paper and then on to the base white card.

I chose some pretty resin flowers and some mustard coloured embroidery thread to make some "hanging baskets".

Lastly I added some Webster's Pages trim and a sentiment sticker.

It turned out quite sweet I think.

November Unstampabelles' challenge

 Hi there,

I usually post in the first week for this challenge but was too busy this time round.

The challenge is:

#106 November: Believe   to have confidence in the truth, the existence, or the reliability of something or someone, although without absolute proof that one is right in doing so. 

Can be in a person or a myth or fairy tale or yourself.

                    TWIST : use an unusual fold

Here is my card.

It is a 3 panel gate fold style. Very easy to make. 

I am very much in Christmas mode at the moment. I've been wrapping presents. So much fun.

November ARTastic vintage theme

 You all are going to love this month's challenge at ARTastic.  The painting is divine.

Artist: Emily Hilda (Rix) Nicholas

 (Australian, 1884–1961

Title: Picardy girl

 , ca. 1913

Medium: oil on canvas

I thought to myself that I would like to use some paint on my layout.  I picked out the mint green colour as my main focus.

Here is my layout.

 I used a Diana Wakley stencil and Soft Moss paint by Kaisercraft mixed with some basic white.

There are an awful lot of little interesting things on this layout if you look closely.

For the flower elements I have one large sticker to which I added a button centre. Then there are some other tiny little paper flowers, which I just love.

Another fun element is the paper doll. I chose a mint green dress with ruffled sleeves like the one in the painting. It ties in perfectly with the page theme.

I'm sure there will be a lot of vintagey, floral pages but this one I think is a little different. Still vintage and a bit retro too, but a bit unexpected.

November DT creation for Archi-Scraps

This month I have a pretty full on layout for you to see.  It's a New Year's Eve fireworks layout.

This is my Designer project for Archi-scraps this month.

Above is the building inspiration and the criteria is to use triangles.

I used a stencil and 3 different papers and 3 different inks to create a starburst design, then I cut those pieces up into various sized triangles. The design really focuses the eye towards the photos. As my son pointed out, the photos are stacked like a building.  The background patterned paper resembles fireworks in a night sky.
