Very 70's hey

JUNE- Use fringing. It can be paper fringing or actual fabric/haberdashery fringes. Can be long or short, it's up to you.

I made a scrapbook page.

I quite like to make fringe flowers. I punched a circle, distressed the edge and coloured it with chalk and added silver glitter. I cut out a larger circle and cut it with my scissors. I made 3 of them. Got to follow those design principles after all.  I picked up the colours for the page from the currency. You'll see the money has some flowers on it too. I thought it tied together neatly.

ARTastic December challenge - Wildflowers

 As so this is Christmas.  Well, nearly. I've been in Christmas mode for some time.

A lovely challenge this month at ARTastic. Here is the inspo pic and there is no added criteria.

I've used flower photos from my August 2020 Broome holiday. I had a lot to choose from. I made a double page layout.

I let the photos speak for themselves.

November ARTastic vintage theme

 You all are going to love this month's challenge at ARTastic.  The painting is divine.

Title: Picardy girl

 , ca. 1913

Medium: oil on canvas

I thought to myself that I would like to use some paint on my layout.  I picked out the mint green colour as my main focus.

Here is my layout.

 I used a Diana Wakley stencil and Soft Moss paint by Kaisercraft mixed with some basic white.

There are an awful lot of little interesting things on this layout if you look closely.

For the flower elements I have one large sticker to which I added a button centre. Then there are some other tiny little paper flowers, which I just love.

Another fun element is the paper doll. I chose a mint green dress with ruffled sleeves like the one in the painting. It ties in perfectly with the page theme.

I'm sure there will be a lot of vintagey, floral pages but this one I think is a little different. Still vintage and a bit retro too, but a bit unexpected.

Wedding card

Hiya,

Hubby and I have been invited to an Indian wedding. I'm very excited. It is sure to be different and colourful.  The wedding invite was paperless and gold and red.

I've made them a wedding card and used the invitation colours as a starting point.

The flower is one by Manor House and has lots of texture and dimension. You can maybe just see the very pretty cream leaf that I have added.

I'm entering this at Soul Scrappers' CC75 challenge which is anything goes card.

Reginald Earle Campbell - "Still life with daffodils"

The extra criteria is use flowers.

I thought it was quite a happy painting. Also, there is one single lady figure in it.

I had this photo of me at Chorus. Every week we celebrate whichever member's birthdays it is. This week it was just me so I had the whole Chorus sing to me in 4 part harmony. I loved it and it was very special. It made me very happy.

I tend not to use a lot of flowers on my layouts. When I do, I like little clusters.

I had just sorted a lot of my flower collection out. I put some into one of those plastic boxes that has lots of little sections. I colour coded them for ease. Made selecting them easier.

Have a go. I know a lot of you out there love using flowers on your projects.

Siblings - a layout using a 5x7 photo from my childhood

This month's challenge at Artastic is one that everyone will like, I just know it.

Here is the inspiration painting.  The theme you must use is nature.



Grace Cossington-Smith - "Trees"

My Mum gave me the most adorable photo of me with my younger brother. In this pic I can see a resemblance. We don't look alike now though.  It is a sweet photo. I thought the colours in it corresponded very well with the painting and we are in a garden, so that's why I chose to use it.

The background paper is from Creative Memories and had most of the colours. I've added some paper, ribbon, buttons, pearls, lots of flowers and a sticker, plus some cream embellishments to tie in with the painting and add meaning.  

I showed my Mum and she loved it. So, I'm happy.

Scrapbook page feature mosaics

I have created a layout today for the March 2017 Archiscraps challenge. The insp photo is:



I love a good ceiling and take photos of them myself whenever I see them. My Dad and both my brothers are ceiling fixers so it figures.  The other criteria is to use mosaics. I happen to quite like this technique also so I thought I would join in this month.

Here is my layout.

I used a template to cut the diamond shapes out of patterned paper.

I made the paper flower pin that this amazing singer is wearing.

Easy to make paper flowers - tutorial

EASY PAPER FLOWERS

Today's post is to show you how to make some simple, layered paper flowers.

It is my Design Team example for August's Unstampabelles challenge, which is:

August - Anything but a Card TWIST Create a tutorial in your blog OR add a link to the one you used to create the item

You'll need:

1.  A circle punch with two sizes. I've used the Creative Memories 1 1/4 and 1 1/2 circle shapemaker.
2. Doubled sided paper.
3. Brads
4. Something to make a hole with. I used a blade.

The first step is to punch 8 of the larger shape and 4 of the smaller shape.

Put a small hole in the centre of each one. Scrunch them all up.

Then it is a simple matter of  pushing a brad through the smallest ones, followed by the largest ones. I alternated the papers so each second one was the reverse side of the patterned paper.  Then you can shape each flower until you are satisfied with the result.

You will get two flowers from each set. I have made some pink and brown ones and some blues ones. The blue ones are actually from a snowflake paper. I don't have much call to use snowflake paper so it is a good use of this paper in my stash.

Beautiful Blooms - double scrapbook page

Hello,

Today I have created a double page layout about flowers I saw at Jurong Bird Park in Singapore.

There were two challenges at Soul-scrappers that these pages are appropriate for so I'm entering one page in TTT9 and the other in MYC21. Head over to Soul to see the criteria.

The pages are mirror images of each other. I don't often have the chance to use many flowers in my work so it was nice to be able to for a change.

Decorated birdcage - take a look

Hello all.

I bought this birdcage some time ago with the intent of decorating it - one day. I was a bit worried about making something and then having my cat wreck it. I have hung this in my craft room at the window and it is lovely to look at. Also, she can't get to it up there.

Inspiration finally took me when I saw what July's challenge was at Unstampabelles where I am a Designer.

The challenge is wide open to interpretation and so you can have some fun with this one.

Grab a Bunch - of Flowers!  

Get creative and make some flowers - in fact the twist is to make a garden!

I thought I would make a garden in my birdcage, complete with a bird. I have made (or friends have made for me) quite a lot of the flowers that I've used, but I've also added some that I have not, plus some leaves, some really pretty green ribbons and patterned paper around the base and on the bottom.

Now I apologise for only the one picture. I have a lot more but my computer is playing up badly and right now I can't manage to show more than one. If it gets fixed before the end of the month I will upload some more.

Delightful - layout for Scrap the Girls

The March challenge for Scrap the Girls is a sketch. Here it is.



Now normally I would look at it and think no, too many flowers but the next photo I had prepared to scrap just happened to be me amongst a large flowery bush on Sentosa Island. Therefore, I took up the challenge.

Here is my layout. I have used some new and old products. I have used some new embroidery floss to create the circle and a new Prima Bloom spray on the old Creative Memories background paper.

I've used a mix of hand made flowers and also some tiny flowers and some Prima leaves.

A guava and teal mixed media canvas

CANVAS

I have created a canvas to hang in my lounge room above the TV.  I'm entering it into Scrapbookit's August 2014 challenge which is a tic tac toe. I chose the top line of teal, chipboard and bling. My canvas has all 3. This is my third canvas. I do enjoy making them. I'm sure I'll make some more. This is a 12x12 one.

New Challenge - Use flowers, art/craft and recycled in a project

You can create any project you like but you must use old stash and it has to incorporate flowers, recycled and art or craft.  Fun, yes?

WA Fun Day - A girly layout for Mad About Scrappin

I bought a whole bunch of lovely flowers from Mad About Scrappin. They arrived in a box this week. Lots of them were handmade too. I've used 5 of these on the sketch challenge of theirs this month. I also had a win at Soul Scrappin' and received some flowers from Karen in the mail this week. I've added 5 of these on my layout as well.
I flipped the sketch on it's side to suit the landscape orientation of my photos. This layout is about me singing last long weekend Monday holiday with the chorus I'm in, A Cappella West. We did a charity gig located at the Scout Hall grounds where my boys used to go to Cubs. I had a chat to the Scout leaders and felt quite nostalgic.
It was a lovely fine day and we had a good time singing. One of our members had her little baby boy along and he behaved very well.

Celebrate - a fun party layout

I have dipped into my old Creative Memories stash today and used some Mod papers and a sticker.

Doesn't my good friend Lorraine look smashing in her purple outfit?

The party Lorraine is at is my hubby's 50th birthday. I think her outfit matches the swirls in the main coloured 50 in the centre of the mag perfectly.

A wedding layout for Mystical's Rapunzel Fairytale - Ch#8

I chose the last fairytale, Rapunzel, for Mystical's competition. It's the last challenge. Hurry up and get your entries in as it's finishing up soon.

You'll notice there is no journalling, which is unusual for me, but this layout is only one in a series (yet to create the others) of my sister-in-law's third wedding.  Here bouquet was lovely but she didn't hold on to it for very long so I was glad to get a picture of it.

I've used all the colours in the palette. The light blue is only in the tiny alphabet letters (and a bit in the top photo). Otherwise the other colours all feature prominently. Wedding photo (tick), garden (flower arrangement).

FWAB January 2014 colour challenge

We get regular visits from this type of lizard. They walk down the hill from the local bush reserve. I'm not fond of them. I know many people think they're cute but I'm not one of them.  I went to go out the front door and this little one was peeping in through the side window next to the door. Gave me quite the surprise and I had to wait to go out til it was gone. Eeek.

I've used a piece of pink paper and a Prima circle mask with Dazzling Diamonds and Delphinium mists on top of a white album page to start. Added some Moda Vera wool which is held on with brads. A few other scrap papers go next.

My favourite part is the Elise antique brown rhinestone swirl. It also came in a pack with extra rhinestones and two pretty flowers.  As this layout is for this month's challenge at Flourish With A Bling I had to use their product, which of course makes it a bit special. You also had to use the colours in the pic above.

Bet they weren't expecting a page about a lizard! lol

Misted layout for SBT50 Wk 6

Week 6's challenge at Scrapbooking top 50's Monopoly competition is :


I rolled a 1 which was the above but I should have rolled a 4 because that was Doily Dale.

I focused on the misting. I took a little white paper doily from the Monopoly Kit you could purchase at the start of the competition and misted over it on my base paper with 3 different mists. I chose a CSI printable with a sentiment and it fitted perfectly into the centre of the masked impression left from the doily  misting. I'ved added my 6 resin flowers in co-ordinating colours to this as well.

I cut up the paper doily and turned it into a flower, adding a daisy flower and a crocheted centre.

I have two chipboard pieces which I've added next to the flower.

One more technique on the page is the dark purple paper behind my photo. I've taken mint green cardstock and stamped a flower using Versa watermark. Then I've added a purple paint wash to create my own background paper.
