Ring Ring - layout for Archiscraps

ARCHISCRAPS

Congratulations to Debi for her win in October's challenge. Now on to November.

RING RING
This is my layout as Designer for this month's challenge at Archiscraps.

I took this photo of my two Samsung phones. I liked my little one as it flipped up to answer it and you didn't have to lock it. It also fit very easily into my pocket. Of course it did not do all the wonderful things my new one does.
I was looking at getting a new one but was actually forced into it. I was sitting at a high bar on a stool in Singapore with Paul and I accidentally dropped my phone. The back that came off where the battery was housed went flying under a massive immovable pylon that had a very tiny gap. I tried to fetch it with my pinky fingers but no go. It always was a bit loose anyhow.
I now have a lovely Samsung Galaxy S4.
I chose this photo  as it was mostly white and black like the inspiration photo. Also today's phones have wonderful ring tones which are musical and you can play your music on them. I use mine to record myself singing at Chorus rehearsal. The extra criteria is use a song title. I couldn't go past ABBA's song  "Ring Ring" for this layout.

New Design Team for me

Hello friends,

I'm very pleased to announced that I have been accepted to be on the Design Team at Unstampabelles starting from October 2014. It is a unique challenge blog where  you create with paper, cannot use stamps or digi images and sentiments are restricted to a few words. I'd like to thank Susan Hogan for having me on her team. I hope you can join me over there and enter into the challenges.

The first challenge for me is to create something shabby chic with a twist of TIME.

SHABBY CHIC!
.....bows, inky look, pop up, punch art, flower punches, vintage look & lacey look.....

I've used a twine bow, a flower punch, a vintage look and the colour story of brown and pink suits as well.

For the time aspect I have a clock hand, clock paper and a clock sticker with the sentiment of time flies. I had to stick a little bird on there as well.

Check out this post to see the mid-month inspiration, including mine. You won't be sorry. There's some incredible pieces on show.

Mixed media canvas for a Soul Scrapper's Quest

LIFE canvas
Created on 18 and 19 October for Soul Scrapper's Quest #24 - Journey. Well, life certainly is a journey. It was set by Joy Anderson who is a bit of a mixed media queen. I am not a master in the least little bit in mixed media but I had a lot of fun and felt like I was on a bit of a learning journey.

Here is my canvas:

The size is 8 by 10. I started by painting a layer of Kaisercraft acrylic paint in soft moss and letting it dry. Then I painted another layer and ran the cardboard circle across it giving it some texture and some of the paint stayed on the cardboard. I dotted some chartruese dye across the bottom and ran the cardboard circle through that as well.
I cut out the circles and used gesso and mists on them.
I had half a doily to use. I glimmer misted that and cut some of the small patterns out from them.
I had a chevron navy straw to use. I cut it in half and covered it with gold paper and mod podged it to the canvas. I had some map paper which I cut into the letters L I F E. We were given some watercolour paint which I fingerpainted on to various bits and pieces.
I can't say that I love this canvas but it was a lot of fun to make and as it was a rainy weekend I was a bit frustrated waiting for the various steps to dry. I feel I've learnt from it and look forward to making a better one.

The Bushfire Boys for Scrap The Boys

The challenge for October 2014 at Scrap The Boys is technology savvy.

My photos certainly fit the bill. Mark is giving a presentation at School on bushfires. He's using his MacBook, plus various other visual aids as well as answering questions. He and his team did a great job.

Here's my layout. I've misted using a stencil on a different piece of paper and then used the stencil on this piece of paper to create the background.

Layout for October 2014 Scrapbookit challenge

October's sketch at Scrapbookit is:

October Challenge

My layout is:

I've used a combination of old and new stash to create this layout.
I've used a new grey Copic marker and some brown brads to create the border.
The Washi under the bottom photo is brand new as well.
The background paper is by My Mind's Eye. It's floral on the other side. I like how Company's are really giving you a lot of options with their double sided papers.

Thanks for looking.

Archiscraps for October 2014

ARCHISCRAPS - OCTOBER 2014

Here is my Designer example inspired by the Walter Towers (pic below).

I was inspired to add the paper folding along the bottom by the shape of the building. Personally I wouldn't feel that confident being in that building. Doesn't look safe to me. The extra criteria is bling. I've added 8 different embellishments that glitter and sparkle.
Get your entry in at Archiscraps using the link in the side bar. Julene always gets good prizes. You could win.
