CSI/Archiscraps Case File - Iconic

SPECIAL AGENT DALE TIERNAN at CSI

One of the Design Teams I am on, Archiscraps, and one of my favourite challenge sites, CSI (Colour, Stories, Inspiration) is combining for a Case File! I can't tell you how happy that made me. I do love doing the CSI case files. Just adore their kind of challenge.

I thought of the amazing Raffles Hotel in Singapore. Click here to go to the Hotel website. We had a wander through the areas that were accessible to non-Hotel guests. The architecture is incredible. I particularly loved the fountain which you can see a picture of in my layout. I have a pine tree transparency, like the palm tree in the inspiration picture. I also have met 5 pieces of evidence and 3 items of testimony and of course I have all the colours required.

This inspiration photo was taken in Singapore. It's actually a coincidence that my photos are taken there as I didn't find out til the 28th of February, well after I'd done the layout.

Here is my finished layout.

Make a layout using twine

I have a new challenge for you up on Soul Scrappers. It is Cooking Up Creation #26.
For this challenge I would like you to :
  1. Use embossed cardstock
  2. Use twine in an innovative/interesting way
  3. Add leaves
Here is my example. There are not a lot of ingredients to this page but I still think it looks quite effective. I've used a leaf green cardstock that is entirely embossed with leaf patterns. I have made a weaved twine pattern on my page. I have also added two large fabric leaves, a die-cut leaf and there are leaves on my journal box.

I look forward to seeing your entries, due by 20 March. If I have 8 or more entries I will award a prize to someone.

Ch#7 Mystical's Fairytale Comp.

THE RED SHOES is the fairytale for this week's challenge. Here are all the details:

Jane Howden's photo.

My layout example is:

I was very excited to be heading out to do my first Christmas Carol performance at the Rossmoyne Bowling Club. I was in the front row in the centre. It was so fun. Afterwards we all went to the Burrendah Tavern for a drink (in our red, white and green clothes). Made quite a sight. Also, we had to sing a song there, just for kicks.

My page is predominantly red, I have a white paper doily and I've used two stamps.

Products from Mystical's store are:

white cardstock
Basic Grey Bow Ties/Red Rover paper
Echo Park This and That Alpha stickers
Basic Grey Knee High and Bow Ties brad
FWAB Chloe, Olive Green

Ch#5 in Mystical's Fairytale Comp. - Snow White

Well, this one sure is a challenge. Read all instructions carefully.

I normally start out with photos for a page and go from there. This time I started out seeking out colours and after I had gotten half way found some photos to suit.

I figured Snow White was a bit of a Mother to those dwarves so I have scrapped a page of my Mum on Mother's Day last year. We went over for a visit. I've added 3 photos to the page, one is a black and white one and two are colour.  I have used all colours in the colour palette as required.

My 7 of one embellishment are the latte Flourish with a Bling pearls.

I've misted over a doily, not very successfully mind you, with some dark blue ink. Actually mixed two together to make this colour.

Get your page into the Mystical gallery by 23 February.  Have fun!

Fantasy for CSI #109

CSI Case #109

This is the case file.

I started with a white background and made a black ink splotch. I chose the Colorbok Light Bright 6x6 papers as I thought the colours were good for the scheme and the stripes were similar to the books in the pic and the way they were arranged.
EVIDENCE
I made some book page flowers for the evidence. I've added 2 silver brads with metallic or rhinestone centres. There is also a little frame. Plus the white mulberry paper is the textured paper. The books in the photo are stacked.
TESTIMONY
My journalling is about reading and I've used the inspiration word read.

Thanks for looking.

CSI 108 - I Won

I dove into my stash of Basic Grey patterned paper for this week's CSI challenge #108. The colours just fit this week's colour scheme perfectly. It's great to use some old stash.

Here is my entry.

Here is case filed I solved.

I would have loved to do a canvas for this. Seems perfect but I don't have time. I remembered that BG had a paper that looked like the background of the picture and I found it and cut a large circle from it. I zigzagged around the around with a pink zig pen (which seemed appropriate) that matched the colour pink on the scheme. I punched a flower with a CM flower punch that leaves a negative shape. Then I went around each petal with the pen and added a matching pearl to the centre for my flower. Other evidence is hearts, border punch and rub-ons.
For testimony I used the inspiration words.

Products used:
BASIC GREY papers:

  • Eva/Affluent
  • Kioshi/ran
  • Lemonade/tee time
  • Olivia/isabella
  • Hellow Luscious/Dandy
OTHER BASIC GREY
  • Kissing Booth element stickers
  • Rub-ons - Olio
  • Granola alphas
OTHER
  • 6x6 kitchen pp
  • zig pens - pink an daqua
  • Memories ink in Apple
  • Martha Stewart border punch
  • Easy craft pearl
  • Creative Memories clear stickers

Thanks for looking.

Birds for Ch#4 of Mystical fairytale comp

Jane Howden's photo.

The 4th challenge at Mystical Scrapbook's for our Fairytale comp is The Ugly Ducking. See above for criteria.
I started with some blue cardstock and then stamped up each side with a vine border. I've used 2 Derwent colour pencils to fill in the leaves.
I've painted circles on the yellow cardstock with some yellow paint, unbleached titanium and I've also mixed the two together. Basically did rough circles.
Taken some more cardstock, green this time, punched up one side. Mystical has this beautiful green vine ribbon and I just had to use that too.

Products from store are:

green vine ribbon
Pink Paislee Indigo Bleu/Jacquard paper
October Afternoon Farmhouse/Sunday Dinner paper
Echo Park Springtime element stickers

Get your entry into the gallery by 16 February.
