From Screen 2 Scrap Ch#3

Here is a card that I've made for #3 of this month's special birthday challenges at From Screen 2 Scrap.

Here's the inspiration.

Added Criteria
is

1 point - Polka dotted patterned paper
2 points - Use numbers in your title
3 points - Let’s make this girly - lots of pink and bling and froth and bubbles

Mission accomplished I reckon.

Pinup Boy for Scrap the Boys

This charming boy's room below was the inspiration for this month's challenge at Scrap The Boys challenge site. My layout features my son Damon, dressed all in Billabong clothing, in front of the Billabong shop in City Walk at Universal Studios. It wasn't open when we got there but we had a chance to go inside later. There is a fabulous whooshing water feature out the front of the shop which is why I've incorporated the wavy patterned paper, plus Billabong is a surf brand. I've also used a clothing tag from one of Damon's pairs of boardshorts on the layout.

RERT Week 12 and Day 172 at 365 Cards

Week 12 and the final destination at Red Earth's road trip is upon me.  Mum gave me a wonderful photo of Dad last week and I couldn't resist printing it larger and using it in this week's challenge. The location is Canowindra which is where Helen, who is the owner of Red Earth Scrapping hails from. Criteria was to use 1 photo, bright colours, hot air ballon paper piecing. Tick all of those off in my layout "Daydream".

The card was just a birthday card. I've used the criteria for Day 172 at 365 Cards which is vintage and green.

Thanks for looking.

From Screen 2 Scrap cards

This post features two cards I have done for the 2nd birthday celebrations of From Screen 2 Scrap where I am a Designer.

Firstly I've made a card for challenge 2. The criteria is:
* use a white and blue background
* child celebrating birthday
* an umbrella

The second card is for an extra DT sub for Holiday Inn. My youngest son performed on violin in his ensemble at the Perth Music Festival on Saturday which was held at my older son's School Perth Modern. In appreciation of his Teacher's efforts we pooled together and I got her some flowers and some chocolates from Johnny Walker Chocolatier shaped like instruments. I also made her this card which I made to fit the criteria for Holiday Inn. (navy and red, 2 toned title and music paper). She was delighted with everything.

Here's a pic of my son looking at the Teacher.

Anna's August '11 sketch entry

This is my entry to Anna's August 2011 sketch competition. These are photos of the actual vehicles used in the movie the Dark Knight. I wanted to keep the feeling of dark and incorporate the motor vehicle aspect. I've actually added in some hardware which you can see in the bottom photo. I've used 3 "O" rings tied with ribbon. I think it looks kind of cool. Of course there are a couple of bats thrown in for good measure.

Published in SNR

The current issue of Scrapbook News and Review online magazine contains my first ever card submission in the Back To School section. My card is called Think Positive. I made it as an inspiration and motivation card. It features mainly words of encouragement. It's a great mag full of great stuff. If you haven't ever seen it, it is worth a look.

RERT layout and card Wk 9 Feed The Birds and Merry Christmas

Canberra is the destination for Week 11. Only one week left. This week's layout challenge is to use floral papers and a sketch.  I've chosen to make a page for Damon's album. He's feeding birds apple at the Walk-In Aviary in Canberra when we visited there in January 2009. I've used mostly Echo Park papers and elements. I've included some little butterflies which I hope you can see in the close up photo. Bit subtle but sometimes the little things count as much as the big. The bonus item this week was the Australian flag.

The card challenge was inspired by the House of Reps being green and the Senate being red. We've actually been in those rooms. You had to use non-traditional Christmas papers. I quite like how it's turned out.

Thanks for looking.

ARTastic entry - Fly

The sun peeped out just now so I ran outside to photograph last night's creation. It's a layout for ARTastic's August challenge. The criteria was to use a ribbon, have a photo of a child playing and create your own background using paint. The painting inspiration is 'The Playing Claude Renoir' by Auguste Renoir.

Here is my entry called "Fly". It is of Mark piloting an army helicopter at the War Memorial in Canberra. Damon and I are passengers. I'm pleased with how all the colours and elements from so many different company's came together so well.

If you look at the 1" square underneath the ABC s of the title you'll see little helicopters on the paper.

Products used are:

Making Memories/Just Chillin'/Patchwork Boy pp
Crate Paper Toy Box CB
Orange paint
ribbon
Creative Memories blue cardstock
Bo Bunny Back to Basics/Grease Monkey pp
Kaisercraft Long Ranger brads
MME Boo! To You! Candy Dots pp

Week 10 of RERT - my layout and card

This week on the Red Earth Road trip the town of Emerald is featured. One of the features of the town is a giant easel displaying a Van Gogh Sunflowers painting. I took my inspiration from that and I had the perfect photos for it. Last year we visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. I took a photo of Sunflowers by VVG and the explanation alongside. We also had to use scallops and a bonus item (which is the little yellow sunflower bottom right). I've also used green rhinestones as the flower centres as a nod to the name of the town of Emerald. Here is my layout for the challenge.

We also had to create a card with scallops. I love lilac. I have punched a tag and a scalloped flower. I've used cotton to spirograph around the scallops to create a nice pattern.

From Screen 2 Scrap birthday celebrations and challenges galore

Very exciting news! Over at From Screen 2 Scrap this month not only is there the usual monthly challenge but there are four extra ones with prizes galore to be won. Check it all out here.

Holiday Inn is the monthly challenge.

The criteria is:
For an extra 6 bonus points :)

1) Use music sheet pp on your page = 1 pt
2) Two tone title = 2 pts
3) Lets see some red and navy on your page = 3 pts

Here's my take on it.

This is Damon's band in which he played the Clarinet, hence the clarinet included on bottom right of the layout.

I was team leader for the first challenge which included me, Sandi and Shazzi. I did a canvas which I've hung in my lounge room. It matches the colour of my couches handsomely. The poster is To Gillian on her 37th Birthday. I chose it because I like the film and I thought the poster would be a good inspiration for a challenge.

The criteria is:

1) Use a house or home on your page somehow
2) use sand/sandpaper or sand coloured fabric
3) use green paint

We would love to see you join in our August Birthday celebrations, you can enter a layout, card or OTP item.

Here is my canvas.

There's lots more to come so check out the website to see the challenges, the Designer's inspiring creations and the prizes available. Remember to tell Shazza I sent you.
