Xmas decoration made of wood

XMAS

Here is my first ever entry in a new challenge blog called What's in the Bickie Tin?

You have to use bling, green and ribbon. In this case my ribbon is green and also sparkly, so all 3 things rolled into one. I also have sequins though.

This is a Kaisercraft wooden word which I have made into a decoration.

I painted it entirely red, then painted the front of it silver. Added some red and white twine, some green sparkly ribbon and some red sequins and beads. Done.

Thanks for looking.

Time for a Christmas challenge

No photo description available.
How cute is this painting with baby emus by Marg Whyte with "Trimming the tree"?
It is this month's inspo at ARTastic.  Criteria is to add stars and ribbons.

Here is what I came up with.  I have red ribbon across the top and on the tag. I've added stars along the ribbon. The base paper is from Kaisercraft's Base Coat Christmas collection. It is perfect for this photo.

Get to it!

A special card incorporating a zipper

This month's challenge pic at Archi-scraps is below. You  must incorporate a zipper in your project.

Image may contain: bicycle, sky and outdoor

Milan, Italy by @Alex Chinneck

A special 80th birthday card for a friend. A zipper on my dress broke so I decided to cut the dress up and use it. The catch got stuck at the top so it left an open section which I have filled with flowers.

This is the sun dress. The zipper was on the side and I have cut a section off.

I chose a bright pink cardstock as the base to match the print.  Then I cut a frame out of black cardstock to hide the edges of the cut out dress.

You can see where there is a slit where the zipper is open. I placed flowers along it until I was happy with the design.

There was a little gap of pink at the top between the frame and the dress and I've added a die-cut doily where I put the number "80".

I am certain my friend will love this card.  It is rather large, a 6" x 12" card.

Hop over to Archi-scraps and see what the other designers have done and also find out what the prize for this month's winning entry is.

Black and white scrapbook challenge - horses

I love this month's challenge at ARTastic.  It's to use black and white and be inspired by the racing image by Kristin Hardimann with Stream out of the barriers.

We were hobby owner/breeders of racehorses when I was a child.  My layout depicts a photo of the first horse we bred and my journalling tells his story.

No photo description available.

It can be a bit of a challenge to work in just black and white but why not give it a go. The results can be quite striking. Check out the other Designers work too, on facebook or the challenge blog.

A tragedy and a sympathy card

Yesterday a terrific teacher and mentor of mine passed away from breast cancer.

Her name was Lindsey Dyer and she was the co-Director of the Chorus I sing in, A Cappella West.

She was full of life, joyful and enthusiasm, especially for the craft of barbershop and educating others in it.

I took this sneaky shot of Lindsey with the gold cup before the 2018 competition. We went on to win that cup, in large part because of her.

This is a photo of me with Lindsey and Gail. Lindsey also knew how to have a lot of fun.

We are all very sad she has gone. She will leave a big hole where she once was.

I've made a card for our Chorus to all sign. There are 95 of us so it had to be a big card.  It's 4 pages altogether.

Our current Chorus costume was orange and purple, some of Lindsey's favourite colours as it happens, so it was a no brainer what colours I would use. I also added green and white as accents.  This card took me 4 hours to make, longer than any other card I've ever made, but this one was very special.

I hope you like it. Here are some pics.

 This is the front.

I added 6 different types of beads as a feature.

It's all about love - and frames

A new month, a new challenge at ARTastic.

Image may contain: plant and outdoor
Grace Cossington Smith with The Window

Criteria - use frames

Here is my take on the challenge.

I wanted to use the colours in the painting.
I've matted both photos, which creates a frame.
Then I've added two sweet wooden frames with the first initial of each of my boys' name inside it in a heart bubble sticker.

Get busy.

Hello To You card with crocheted button flower

I love October. It's my birthday month.

Have a gander at the October challenge at Archiscraps.

You have to use distressing on your project.

No photo description available.

I chose to make a card this month.
I've got two torn papers on my card.

I also made a really cute crocheted button flower.  The yellow ribbon "stem" is distressed at the bottom.

What will you make?

Layered card

Here is the Unstampabelles' challenge for September 2019.

Time for Recess (Apertures)  TWIST Luscious Layering

I have started with a Colorbok Frame punch out sheet. I punched out the frames and was left with the holes. The apertures were therefore all ready to go. As they retained a line of colour that gave me the colours to use for the card.

I backed the yellow and orange first and then the rest got the blue and white patterned paper.  I popped two of the frames. These were from the original sheet.  I also added a clock die cut (also popped), a chipboard xoxo piece and a handmade cardstock flower which has a lot of dimension.

I backed all of this on to orange paper and stuck it all on light blue cardstock.  So, lots of layers.

What will you make?

Glam Girls - A Melbourne Cup Day layout

Who doesn't love a new challenge?

Archiscraps has a great one for you.

SEPTEMBER- use a horse somewhere.
This is Helix park and the kelpies.

Image may contain: one or more people, cloud, sky and outdoor

I love horses. I had a great love affair with them when I was a child.  I took riding lessons from 8 years old and went to 4 different riding schools. We bred and trained race horses. My Dad and my Uncle were hobby trainers.  I spent a lot of my youth at the Races.

The only time I go now is on Melbourne Cup Day.

Here is my layout inspired by horses.

I love the background paper. Glad to be able to finally use it. I was saving it. You know how you do.  hehehe

Wedding card

Hiya,

Hubby and I have been invited to an Indian wedding. I'm very excited. It is sure to be different and colourful.  The wedding invite was paperless and gold and red.

I've made them a wedding card and used the invitation colours as a starting point.

The flower is one by Manor House and has lots of texture and dimension. You can maybe just see the very pretty cream leaf that I have added.

I'm entering this at Soul Scrappers' CC75 challenge which is anything goes card.

Thanks for looking.

Two birthday cards

Hi everyone,

I've done a card for challenge CC74 at Soul-scrappers.  It is a sketch challenge.
I needed a card for my son's best friend who is turning 20 today. I quite like the bold red, black and white colour scheme that I chose.
I've also done female card with a flower in white and blue.

Have a great day.

Tea in the Garden watercolour card

Unstampabelles challenge:

August - Tea in the Garden TWIST Watercolour Wonders

Here is my card.

I had these water colour paints, brand new and unused.  I decided to use them on some yellow floral patterned paper.

I love tea, in particular Twinings tea. The 10 packs have a delightful pattern inside. I've used a different colour pack before. I chose a panel with a saying on it to use on my card.

The little teacup is from a Daphne's Diary magazine. They often have lovely images for projects to make.  Lastly, I added a die-cut which I have cut in half and used the other half on another card. 3 brown pearls as a final embellishment on the butterfly and I'm done.

What will you do?  Doesn't have to be a card. Can be a layout or something else? Just remember, don't use stamping.

Thanks for looking.

Bass Clef - Scrapbooking inspiration

Look at this fantastic challange that Archiscraps has for us this month.

Music is a favourite hobby of mine.

Here is the inspo pic:

Isn't it grand?

This is the Country Music hall of fame in Nashville.
As you can see it is in the shape of a bass clef.
