Family - scrapbook layout

Today's layout is for the quote challenge at Mad about Scrappin'.  You had to use Family Together We Have It All.

Here is my layout.

This is a special photo as it's not very often we have our photo taken together and even rarer to have it done by a professional.  Happily, one of the Mum's at Mark's School was willing to do a shoot on his Graduation night and her rate was very reasonable. I made sure we all colour matched (according to what Mark chose to wear).

September 2014 Sketch challenge

Julie Gordon's lovely sketch

I've been on a bit of a baking kick this year since getting a new KitchenAid mixer. I've also been watching shows like The Great British Bake Off and Britain's Best Bakery and can't help making something myself. In the picture are a chocolate orange cake, lemon cupcakes and chocolate whoopie pies.

A card using Kaisercraft Kaleidoscope

I've created this card to suit a challenge at Soul Scrappers. Mitzi set a challenge to make a card using leaves. I love blue and green as a colour combo so that's what I've chosen to use.

OTP Cabinet - Kaisercraft

Saturday challenge #1 for September at Kaisercraft is create something off the page.

The Cabinet has been finished in greens. It's painted all over.  Some surfaces have Kaisercraft paper adhered to it with mod podge. There are KC frames painted in gold on the front. I've used buttons and twine for the door handles. Kaiser letters painted in heritage green and rub-ons are on the top.

CSI 139 - New Bed

This layout is for case number 139 at CSI. I haven't had a chance to do one for a while but I loved the look of the sketch associated with it and the colour scheme also appealed a lot. Plus, it could about a cat and I enjoy creating pages about my kitten.
See the case file below.

A challenge using gold CUCC33

I've just put up a new challenge at Soul Scrapper's. You have from today til 2 October to get an entry.

I've challenged you to use one of the latest scrappy trends, using gold/gilt on a project. You have a choose of making a scrapbook layout, a series of 3 tags that are similar or a series of 3 cards that are similar.

Here are my examples. They are just examples of projects where I have used gold as a predominant colour.  Head to Soul Scrappers to join in. If there are 8 entries or more I will award a prize.

Sept 2014 Scrap The Boys layout

SCRAP THE BOYS have a challenge this month to catch your boy doing something around the house such as ironing, cooking, etc.

My son Mark has been learning to cook over the last year and quite enjoys it. His appetite has increased also, being a growing teen, the eating part after the cooking also appeals. The cleaning up, not so much.

Hubby helped him prepare banana pancakes for a Mother's Day breakfast treat. They were delicious too.

Here is my layout.

Floating flowers card

Mitzi put up a wonderful challenge at Soul Scrappers to make a floating image card. Now I had to give this a go because it looked like fun to make.
Here is what I did.

It is Spring here in Perth so that was my inspiration, even though it is a very stormy day indeed.

Thanks for looking.

My Hero - male layout for Scrapbookit's September 2014 challenge

I fell in love with the challenge at Scrapbookit when it went up on 1st September. I wrote all the details down on a post it and finally got to it today (the 5th). Yay. I really wanted to spend some time crafting today and have made a couple of cards and now this layout. So pleased.

Here is the challenge...

Create a layout/a project that includes the following:
* Masculine theme
*The words 'My Hero' included in the title
* 4 patterned papers
* Washi tape
* Twine / Ribbon
* At least 1 handmade embellishment

I felt this challenge was so perfect for me. I'm always doing masculine layouts and I enjoy making embellies too. I was in Amanda's swaps for a while and so have quite a stash. It would be nice if that got going again but Amanda is a busy lady. Maybe one day.

I chose a photo of my boys with their Dad on Father's Day 2012. Perfect. They were wearing blue, black and white so I've used those colours but I wanted to add red to add some pops of colour.
I have all the criteria there. What do you think? I'm happy with it.

Father's Day Card for Feeling Sketchy #100

FATHER'S DAY CARD

Father's Day is this Sunday. I had 3 cards to make and had only made my FIL's which I sent earlier in the week as he lives over east.  I think it will make it in time. Fingers crossed.

That left 2 more to make so I had to hop on to it today. One I have made as a tutorial at Mystical. You'll have to wait until the 12th to see that one. The other I have made using the sketch at Feeling-sketchy #100. Here is the sketch.

Well, I've made a really simply card for hubby for my boys to give him. I've flipped the sketch on its side though.

I've used a white cardstock base, ric rac, black ribbon and two types of washi. The colour inspiration came from the Nob Hill washi of moustaches. It's pretty cute. The stamps are Kaisercraft and there's a little bit of Prima bling in black. Had to move the sentiment Debi. I'm sure you don't mind!

Thanks for looking.

ARCHISCRAPS DOUBLE PAGE LAYOUT AND TUTORIAL - September 2014 challenge

ARCHISCRAPS SEPTEMBER 2014 CHALLENGE

Here is the inspiration building picture:

See Google images here to see more.

I looked at this and it screamed Halloween at me. I thought the balconies looked like the eyes of ghouls and I particularly liked the texture in between the windows. Our extra criteria is texture paste, suggested by me, so that's where I started.

I had some photos from Halloween 2012 that I hadn't scrapped yet. The colours fit in nicely with the picture. See a list of all products used below.

First of all, I got some white gesso and separated it into small piles. I added 5 different colours of paint to each pile. I took a 6x6 stencil I liked and laid it on my paper. I wanted to make a pattern up one side of the page. I painted in the gaps of the stencil randomly with the different colours. I had to peel it off and do it again to go right down the paper. I repeated this step on the left page as well and set them aside to dry.

I used an acrylic stamp with two different colours along the edge of each outer side of each page.

I tore up some co-ordinating coloured Halloween papers and inked with matching inks around the edges.
I added my photos and then adhered the inked papers along the centre of each page horizontally.

I took some bandage and frayed around the edges. I sprayed each with with glimmermist and Mr Huey's Green mist. I've added these to my pages with MME brads.

I then added some stickers and lastly my journalling.

I hope you enjoyed my little tutorial. It was a fun project to make.

I hope you join in over at Archiscraps this month. I can't wait to see what you create.

We welcome Leslie Smith, our newest Designer, who joins myself, Trish and Jan on the Team.
