Kaisercraft Santa Sleigh

Hi all. It's fast approaching the big day.

I'm so pleased with my off the page project I have made. It's a wooden Kaisercraft Santa's Sleigh.

I'm really pleased with how it turned out. The red paper on the outside of the sleigh is especially glittery and didn't photograph that way. I shopped far and wide to find just the perfect bits and pieces to attach to it and to put inside. It sits proudly in my lobby.

I'm entering this into 4 challenges.

1.  Papercrafter's Corner Week #79 magazine Monday
2. Artastic
3. Scrapping4funchallenges; and of course

Scrappy challenge CUCC36 - Crutches

CUCC36 for Soul Scrappers is now up on the site. It's all about scrapping the not so happy times. I ask you to create a page about an illness, injury or operation.

I've chosen to scrap Mark's time on crutches. He had a treatment of a ganglian on his ankle and wasn't able to walk about easily for a week.

The challenge runs from 4 Dec to 6 Jan so you have lots longer than the usual 3 weeks to have a go. Hope you can find time to enter.

Archiscraps December 2014 challenge

ARCHISCRAPS

Here is the inspiration photo for the challenge this month. Extra criteria is to add an animal.  I chose to add a golden dragon to match the one in the bottom photo. The pics are ones I took on our trip to Macau where we saw some lion dancers performing with taiko drummers.

Hope you can join in this month. To to Archiscraps for all the details on how to enter.

Make an Aussie Christmas card

UNSTAMPBELLES

The December challenge at Unstampabelles is to make a southern hemisphere Christmas card. I have done just one of them before, a Santa surfing was the theme.

This time I wanted to make a bit more sophisticated one. I'm going to send it to the host family that took care of my son Mark when he went to Japan in October. (I know the family have received it and liked it).

I've used some Creative Memories backing paper, a piece of Kaisercraft postage stamp Christmas paper, both of which I have inked around the edges of with red ink, some sparkly red glitter tape and a Christmas sticker for the sentiment. The feature is the gum nut and leaves which I have cut out freehand and embellished with pens.

Set of 3 Christmas cards

CHRISTMAS CARDS

I found a new challenge blog, just for Christmas cards (thanks to Wendi). It is Christmas card challenges. This set of 3 is for week #52. It had an inspiration photo to work with. I saw a tree with yellow stars so that's my main focus for these cards.

A Joy(full) Spirit - card for Feeling Sketchy

Here is a card I made yesterday. It's for an international singing coach that is coming over this weekend from the US to help our Chorus.

I've used the following sketch for the design. I gave my card a nice, soft feel by using pastel pink, soft green and kraft. Had to add a bit of bling of course. Choruses are renowned for their use of bling.

Card Sketch 108
It's sketch #108 from Feeling sketchy.

Thanks for looking.

Woohoo, I won the prize from Molossi. How exciting. Thanks Debi and Feeling Sketchy and Molossi.

Mystical cyber crop - A gold, black and white layout

Mystical Scrapbooks' cyber crop is in progress.

I've had a go at Tracey's mood board challenge. I love the colour scheme she has chosen.  Here is my layout.

I didn't have any new year's eve photos as we didn't do anything to celebrate last year. I've chosen to scrap a photo from a party I went to this year. It had the right colour tones and happy note that the challenge asks for. I encourage you to have a go.

Here is the mood board Tracey came up with.

Kaisercraft November 2014 challenge - Model

Hi all,

One of my favourite kind of pages to do is a masculine page. Kaisercraft are really amazing with their ranges suited to males. I'm so thankful for that. I've used a mix of their ranges to create this page. I will have to get some of their new Off The Wall collection. Base Coat is still my fave though.

This page features my youngest boy. I love this photo of him that I took up at our local park.

Travel scrapbook page

I'm playing along with Week 76 Magazine Cover challenge at Papercrafter's Corner.
Here is the cover:
Papercrafting Challenge: Magazine Mondays - Week 76 Inspiration Piece (image)

So I've taken inspiration from the vintage look and the suitcases and also the fact that she is waiting.

My layout is about us waiting in the airport for a flight. My husband and son are passing their time on our netbook utilising the Airport's free wifi.  I've used a wonderful background paper by Bo Bunny that is vintage inspired and has suitcases on it. All of the elements I've used are travel and vintage in nature.

I'm also entering this layout into The Scrapbook Store's November sketch. I think it looks quite vintage in nature and all the business is in the centre of the page. The background paper colour is the same as well. Of course it is flipped around as I have a landscape photo rather than a portrait one.

Here is November 2014 Sketch Competitiontheir sketch.

New Challenge at Soul Scrappers

Today I have put up a new challenge at Soul Scrapper's. It is to do a layout honouring housewives, very worthy indeed. The extra criteria is to add a lavender flower.

Go over to the Soul site and look for MYC11 for more details here.

This is my layout.

I've chosen to scrap about my Fisher and Paykel home appliances. I couldn't get by without these essentials in my home.

A close up of the corner. My Mum made the white crocheted button flower.

Christmas cards

This photograph is the challenge for November at Scrapbook Boutique. You can make any project you like, except no digital stamps allowed. Fair enough. The stamp I've used for the sentiment is an acrylic one from Kaisercraft.
I've made a set of cards in the colours, plus they are a pile of presents but could be viewed as a 3 tier cake. Wish I could make such attractive cupcakes as those in the pic.

Here are my cards.

Thanks for looking.

"Ready for the Ball" for Scrap Around The World

NOVEMBER 2014 challenge at Scrap around the world

The image we had to be inspired by was just so gorgeous and too hard to pass up. I just fell in love with it.

Here is my layout.

Close up

I wanted my layout to seem like you were looking at an antique dressing table top. Wear lapel pins and corsages is quite a traditional idea, as is going to a Ball.

First of all I was inspired by the lace curtaining that looks like doilies. I've misted the background paper over a doily with glimmer mist to make it sparkle. I have scattered around some petals, a row of pearls and some pearls. I have a hand made lace flower that I made and a row of crocheted trim as well. I also have some sheet music pp in the corners. There is always dancing at a Ball so the music paper is appropriate.

Pillow Boxes tutorial for Unstampabelles

This is my second month of designing for Unstampabelles. The challenge this month is to CREATE A BOX and show how you made it.

The other Designers have come up with a wide variety of wonderful boxes for  you to be inspired by. Perhaps you will want to create something completely different but do check out their work. Christmas is just around the corner and what better way to add value to a gift than to create your own gift box.

With that in mind I have a tutorial for you on my box, a pillow box. You can give a gift of jewelry, lollies or any small present inside these easy to make, customisable gift boxes.

Here is the final picture. I made one from kraft paper and one from patterned paper.

PRINTABLE TEMPLATE

 pillow bag template
PILLOW BOX
MATERIALS:
•  kraft paper (or other cardstock or patterned paper) to print on
• scissors
• ruler
• 1 circle punch
• strong double sided adhesive tape

OPTIONAL:
• labels, stickers, or stamps to decorate
• ribbon, raffia, etc.

Print template on to cardstock.
Score along dotted lines.
Fold.
Use your circle punch on two opposing ends on the same side. Only use half of the punch so it makes a semi circle.
Decorate.
Apply double sided tape along edge to join together.
Continue decorating as desired.

Enclose present within, fold and there you have your pillow box.

Ring Ring - layout for Archiscraps

ARCHISCRAPS

Congratulations to Debi for her win in October's challenge. Now on to November.

RING RING
This is my layout as Designer for this month's challenge at Archiscraps.

I took this photo of my two Samsung phones. I liked my little one as it flipped up to answer it and you didn't have to lock it. It also fit very easily into my pocket. Of course it did not do all the wonderful things my new one does.
I was looking at getting a new one but was actually forced into it. I was sitting at a high bar on a stool in Singapore with Paul and I accidentally dropped my phone. The back that came off where the battery was housed went flying under a massive immovable pylon that had a very tiny gap. I tried to fetch it with my pinky fingers but no go. It always was a bit loose anyhow.
I now have a lovely Samsung Galaxy S4.
I chose this photo  as it was mostly white and black like the inspiration photo. Also today's phones have wonderful ring tones which are musical and you can play your music on them. I use mine to record myself singing at Chorus rehearsal. The extra criteria is use a song title. I couldn't go past ABBA's song  "Ring Ring" for this layout.

New Design Team for me

Hello friends,

I'm very pleased to announced that I have been accepted to be on the Design Team at Unstampabelles starting from October 2014. It is a unique challenge blog where  you create with paper, cannot use stamps or digi images and sentiments are restricted to a few words. I'd like to thank Susan Hogan for having me on her team. I hope you can join me over there and enter into the challenges.

The first challenge for me is to create something shabby chic with a twist of TIME.

SHABBY CHIC!
.....bows, inky look, pop up, punch art, flower punches, vintage look & lacey look.....

I've used a twine bow, a flower punch, a vintage look and the colour story of brown and pink suits as well.

For the time aspect I have a clock hand, clock paper and a clock sticker with the sentiment of time flies. I had to stick a little bird on there as well.

Check out this post to see the mid-month inspiration, including mine. You won't be sorry. There's some incredible pieces on show.

Mixed media canvas for a Soul Scrapper's Quest

LIFE canvas
Created on 18 and 19 October for Soul Scrapper's Quest #24 - Journey. Well, life certainly is a journey. It was set by Joy Anderson who is a bit of a mixed media queen. I am not a master in the least little bit in mixed media but I had a lot of fun and felt like I was on a bit of a learning journey.

Here is my canvas:

The size is 8 by 10. I started by painting a layer of Kaisercraft acrylic paint in soft moss and letting it dry. Then I painted another layer and ran the cardboard circle across it giving it some texture and some of the paint stayed on the cardboard. I dotted some chartruese dye across the bottom and ran the cardboard circle through that as well.
I cut out the circles and used gesso and mists on them.
I had half a doily to use. I glimmer misted that and cut some of the small patterns out from them.
I had a chevron navy straw to use. I cut it in half and covered it with gold paper and mod podged it to the canvas. I had some map paper which I cut into the letters L I F E. We were given some watercolour paint which I fingerpainted on to various bits and pieces.
I can't say that I love this canvas but it was a lot of fun to make and as it was a rainy weekend I was a bit frustrated waiting for the various steps to dry. I feel I've learnt from it and look forward to making a better one.

The Bushfire Boys for Scrap The Boys

The challenge for October 2014 at Scrap The Boys is technology savvy.

My photos certainly fit the bill. Mark is giving a presentation at School on bushfires. He's using his MacBook, plus various other visual aids as well as answering questions. He and his team did a great job.

Here's my layout. I've misted using a stencil on a different piece of paper and then used the stencil on this piece of paper to create the background.

Layout for October 2014 Scrapbookit challenge

October's sketch at Scrapbookit is:

October Challenge

My layout is:

I've used a combination of old and new stash to create this layout.
I've used a new grey Copic marker and some brown brads to create the border.
The Washi under the bottom photo is brand new as well.
The background paper is by My Mind's Eye. It's floral on the other side. I like how Company's are really giving you a lot of options with their double sided papers.

Thanks for looking.

Archiscraps for October 2014

ARCHISCRAPS - OCTOBER 2014

Here is my Designer example inspired by the Walter Towers (pic below).

I was inspired to add the paper folding along the bottom by the shape of the building. Personally I wouldn't feel that confident being in that building. Doesn't look safe to me. The extra criteria is bling. I've added 8 different embellishments that glitter and sparkle.
Get your entry in at Archiscraps using the link in the side bar. Julene always gets good prizes. You could win.

Family - scrapbook layout

Today's layout is for the quote challenge at Mad about Scrappin'.  You had to use Family Together We Have It All.

Here is my layout.

This is a special photo as it's not very often we have our photo taken together and even rarer to have it done by a professional.  Happily, one of the Mum's at Mark's School was willing to do a shoot on his Graduation night and her rate was very reasonable. I made sure we all colour matched (according to what Mark chose to wear).

I Love To Bake for Anna's Craft Cupboard

ANNA'S CRAFT CUPBOARD
September 2014 Sketch challenge

sketch_large4.jpg

Julie Gordon's lovely sketch

I've been on a bit of a baking kick this year since getting a new KitchenAid mixer. I've also been watching shows like The Great British Bake Off and Britain's Best Bakery and can't help making something myself. In the picture are a chocolate orange cake, lemon cupcakes and chocolate whoopie pies.
